GC Quest, "Burning Man" -- Text -- Urianger's Missing Serial Comma

When the player is in the Ferry Docks in Ul'dah, is progressing through the GC quest "Burning Man", and speaks to Urianger within an instance, the following text appears:

    "
Urianger: That thou might take thy
    rightful place amongst them, I
bid thee return now to the city,
and discover there all that thine
eyes, thine ears and thy heart
would tell thee. These are the
truths thou seekest. Do but this,
    and thou, too, shalt soon
    awaken.
    "

This is incorrect because a serial comma is missing on the fifth line in-between "ears" and "and".

Please fix this issue by adding a comma after "ears" on the fifth line.

The corrected text would read as follows:

    "
Urianger: That thou might take thy
    rightful place amongst them, I
bid thee return now to the city,
and discover there all that thine
eyes, thine ears, and thy heart
would tell thee. These are the
truths thou seekest. Do but this,
    and thou, too, shalt soon
    awaken.
    "

It's a loc issue. You're on the loc board. ...What do you expect to find on this board?

    /facepalm,
Grammar mistakes break my immersion. /trollface.png

It's true, though. While the translation of new material takes precedence over little things like these (which is probably why this board has been so quiet for the past few days; 1.19a isn't gonna localize itself), going back and fixing little mistakes adds to the game's character and value.

The point of these games is to simulate socialization and achievement in a world in which you have different friends, worries, interests, and goals than those that drive you to sit alone playing video games in the first place (lol). That illusion is hard to maintain when it's rubbed in your face that you're basically being told a very elaborate story by someone who is far better at fiction than you.

The game was right, you are wrong. If there are 3 items in a sentence, you will separate the first and second with a comma but not the third; it had the word "and".
Example: The chocobo ran up the hill, to the stream and took a leak.

Actually, opinions vary among writers and editors on the usage or avoidance of the serial comma. In American English, the serial comma is standard usage in non-journalistic writing that follows the Chicago Manual of Style.

Journalists, however, usually follow the AP Stylebook, which advises against it. It is used less often in British English, where it is standard usage to leave it out.

So basically, there is no universal convention on the usage of a serial comma.

The only reason journalists omit that comma is to justify saving one more character of column space. (Seriously.)

Ergo, this. Fixed for a future patch. Thanks, Merm.
