    Confused about Savage rules..?

    Hi,

So I got a group together for A1S in PF, including 2 FC member who have never ever cleared A1S.

When I went to enter I had no option for A1S, just A2S (I have cleared A1S this week). I accidentally hit it and we were all taken into A2S. We left and then no matter who was party leader, we could not enter back to A1S at all. I am assuming the game classed us all as 'cleared' A1S, which makes sense as we entered A2S.

My confusion however is that the party had 4 people (including my 2 FC mates) who had never cleared A1S before, ever. How is it possible that the game allowed then into A2S at all? Should there not be a message, similar to if you queue for Expert Roulette but someone has not yet unlocked one of the dungeons, you get a message that '1 or more party members has not met the requirement'

As a result, we had to disband and there was one quite upset party member (understandably), as they can now get no loot or manifesto this week.

Can someone help me understand why this happened, and if this is how it works, should it work like this?

The same happened to us when we tried to help an FC member with A1S. I accidently clicked us into A1S as I thought it would count our progress from the lowest person, but for some stupid reason the game decided that we could take a person that had yet to clear even the first floor into the third one. After that he was locked into that floor for the rest of the week, which sucked.

I don't know why it works like this. Theoretically you could always have some team taking you into A4S weekly until you clear it, without ever touching the precious floors. I think this is (yet another) hindsighy in SE's programming that they can't be bothered to change.

That's what I've started to think, so theoretically, I can just skip floors 1-3 and get the good loot/manifesto from A4S. Makes no sense..

I only started playing FF14 in Feb this year (also my first ever MMO), so am not sure what you mean by this?

I did try to look up some info and found this at http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...b7f1d6f626c5c5

Progress within Alexander: Gordias (Savage) is saved as you advance through each area. Party members who have completed a given area may challenge it again if they meet the entry requirements.
Isn't an entry requirement to have beaten A1S?

Players who are at a later progression in raid e.g: Party leader at Turn 4, party members at turn 2. Should not be the ones to initiate the entry as there is no restriction where a player who hasn't cleared later turns is not allowed into said turns without clearing those before.

This issue has been around ever since the beginning of BCoB but was only an issue when trolls decide to lock people out of their weekly loot e.g: bringing a bunch of people who thought they were in for Turn 1 into Turn 4.

With the new-ish ability to go back to earlier turns to help friends, your friend needs to be the one who initiates entrance or else you're stuck with the situation you're in now.

Imo it's a system that feels tacked on after players have requested to be allowed to help their friends in earlier turns. Anyway, nothing can be done about it other than wait another week and treat it as a lesson learned the hard way. At least now you know and will be more careful next time.

Ahh, ok. Thank you for explaining.

So in essence, it's just how it is, but more due to player-base wanting to help friends so SE did it this way.

Yep, now I know and will be more careful next time for sure. Definite lesson learnt..

HAHAHA never laugh so much on the forum... Not because of the problem but because you assume you can come into A4s like that and take the win easily (or not)..

As someone has stated, If YOU were the one who initiated, or anyone else who has cleared A1S initiated, it will prompt you to enter A2S. Now if you wanted to go back into A1S, you then will have to make your FC mates who hasn't done it for the week initiate it or some else who hasn't cleared A1S

I'm pretty sure it falls to the party leader. It's my understanding that, if the leader has cleared a certain floor than you can't go back. You can, however, go back if the party leader is someone who has never done it or has yet to get their clear. You guys should be fine if you transfer party leadership to someone who hasn't done their weekly yet, or one of the two FC mates who have never been in before.
