SMNs have burst, which is negated by a healer who is on their toes.

Aside from TD, they do not have any CC where as the other jobs do.

If you live through the SMN burst, you can safely proceed to rush them as they will have to rely on ruin until the next set of AF is up.

SMNs do not need a nerf, people need to learn how to handle them

Just seeing the walls of egis and wars on the frontline (total of 10+/24?) tells enough. The fact that blm isnt all shabby doesnt help the healthy mix of physical rangeds and melees either. Op? Guess if you don't want to get jumped on say "no". Boring? A little . GCs spamming others for job stacking, hip hip hooray

I use to think they were an issue when it first came out, but as I play and heal I don't find them much of an issue. Even when I play summoner I go in do my burst but I can easily get screwed over as a SMN by another job.

I don't like to chase too far and being a healer a lot in them, I like to stay within a certain range of the AoE slaughterfest that happens in crowds. I get screwed over a lot by dragoons, they'll either jump back the moment they see all 3 of those DOTS get on, or I'll get stunned out the wazoo.

Going against a summoner Esuna is my friend, that takes fester down a decent amount of potency per DOT I can get off before a fester. This is of course if they don't have their tri-move up and ready. Still, the ones who are getting hit by the full combo I normally can keep them alive, then I like to sleep the summoners..and watch them go to 0 HP. Even if they manage to kill off the player, if the DPS can move the Summoner close enough in where they can't easily run they are usually caught and the points are taken back.

I agree that SMN seems powerful, and maybe they are too powerful as their burst rotation can be roughly equivalent to a melee LB, though cast from a much longer distance and available every minute regardless of any other circumstances (like building LB gauge). Practically speaking though I've survived a SMN burst rotation and never survived a melee LB, even when it was cast on me while I was sprinting and it was nowhere near connecting with me.

Currently I only have BLM at 60 and I've been doing frontlines a fair bit. SMNs are most annoying to me now simply because of the body bloat. It becomes a headache to target people because there are constantly 6 pets lingering about and they can chase you quite far. Between just the 2 jobs SMN seems much more powerful, though BLM can melt inattentive targets very quickly and easily if there are other people around to distract them. Alone, BLM more or less can't attack except with swiftcast or scathe since any competent attacker will not only be hitting you, but also running behind you constantly preventing any casts.

It feels 'unfair', but SMNs don't have sustained damage. They have a very good burst every minute or so and an annoying pet that probably never kills anything. They feel very powerful because of the instances where you run into one and they unload everything they have on you, though the same could be said about several DRGs and WARs I've come across.

Honestly, WAR is the most OP job in all of Frontlines. It's completely overpowered when they can kill 75% of my total health with one attack.

This. As a main WHM for PvP...I just focus our Wars and we win nearly every encounter. lol

This and whatever people say about the overall balance, how its "just" the burst etc may be true, but it doesnt help the poor dds that are basically getting one shot in big brawls out of nowhere (without the mentioned heals. Not like you always get a lot of pro healers on your back in soloqeues), lying on the floor. And while you say its only a minute base, so is purification. And theres more than just that one summoner unless you are the dude strayin off on your own. What makes smn seem op is simply how god damn cheap it is
And it doesnt mean other classes arent op. All i see is war and smns, few blm and drk. There are often adders stacked on brd, but thats the moment to be afraid of those 20 win ratios xD

1 thing summoners (and range dps in general) do good is "stealing" kills. In almost every match I'm in, on multiple occasions, the final blow on the target I'm on is some kind of flare. Not that I mind. I'm sure other melee dps have noticed.
