A burst with 2000 potency equates to using all the job's cooldowns. After those 8 seconds the job has very little else to throw out. Don't BLMs pride themselves on not having to manage so many cooldowns?
What I'm trying to tell you is that Smn's dps is more or less equal to Blm, but SMN has ridiculous amounts of mobility. A smn can kill someone without ever having to hardcast any spells. Even if they do have to hardcast, all they have to do is apply 2 dots, bio and ruin 2 are freecasted and everything else is off gcd. Not to mention Rouse+Spur+Enkindle is just another nuke they have at their disposal, which is just another hard-hitting attack that does not require hardcasting. Yes BLM can 'spam flare', but they have to hardcast the first 1-2 flares before getting off the 3rd free flare with swiftcast. Hardcasting is a major drawback as enemies can either get out of range or easily inturrupt you with attacks/knockback/silence/stun ect.
I stand by my statement that summoner basically negates the swiftcast nerf.
It's super easy to get free kills with it on unaware/bad players... but also freaking impossible to kill any good player or a player with a healer on his toes.
SMN is a noob crusher, nothing more.

Summoner was never impacted by the Swiftcast nerf. It felt the reverberations of the purify cooldown reduction, though. The job, I feel, was a direct target of that. Is there an unspoken rule that a job cannot have good burst and mobility? If bard, machinist and black Mage have way better burst than summoner, but with restrictions on how that burst is carried out, while summoner has none, how is this a problem?

Burst is everything in pvp. Summoner got the best and easier burst. It's op. That's all.


It is pretty fun everybody cry how SMN is so "op" but nobody have any good suggestion how it should be "fixed".

At least read the entire topic before saying such a thing. We can fixe it simply by removing the critical chance of deathflare in Pvp. Instead of takink 4K+ dmg you'll take 2300 as a final blow.


Even if you manage get 800 crit it is only 16 - 17% chance and you would crit 1/6 of your death flares. If you crit once with death flare in 6min, would that make much difference? Ppl gonna cry summoner is op until it is totally useless in pvp. If they nerf damage from summoners, smn is gonna need miasma heavy back or something like that, if they wanna keep the balance.
Summoner should be toned down a bit. Playing against a team of 2+ smn really takes away the fun of pvp. Its no wonder queue times r so high when people cant even play with their main class because of the massive imbalances. It almost forces you to lvl up a smn or not bother playing at all, most chose the latter.



If you nerf SMNs burst, then they're left with absolutely nothing in PVP. They have no defense, no crowd control, their normal hard cast DOTs are easily cleansed, and the pets are easily killed.
