Can't emphasize this enough. Primals (particularly older ones) are already oversaturated with RNG. If SE decides that they want to add anything else to them in an attempt to get players to come back and run them (which I'm already exhausted in doing), it really shouldn't be like the 4th or 5th newest reward-type to be RNG.
As long as the crafted piece isn't an absurd 5+ million gil I won't be opposed to the idea, the thing I least enjoy doing is farming gil. It literally makes this game feel like a job.I do think (to help keep interest in them far after the mass gets there armor though) is to have a ring or something that needs to be crafted to activate the effect of the armor. Say you can trade your tokens for the armor but for your Shiva armor to have ice flying around, Ifrits fire, or even Ramuhs with sparks flying off, would need a drop to be crafted to activate them.
Edit: A suggestion would be to lock the crafting material behind a lot of tokens, "imbued" Primal Armour could be a sign of dedication. 100 tokens for a type of untradeable materia, you could then craft it onto your item yourself or request the crafter do it and pay them a fee.
Don't need to ask me.![]()

Maybe make it so the primals have a chance to drop armor pieces but also drop tokens (like ravana/bis totems) that can be traded at a fashion vendor for the armor? That way if rng decides to say "not today!" 20 runs in a row you can still work toward the stuff.
I can agree with materia being slotted to activate it but then that takes a needed slot wouldn't it? Unless the glamoured items materia would by chance take affect regardless. Though an idea that comes to mind, once the materia is created, you trade the body + materia (or item) to a trader who gives you the elemental version of that armor which in turn activates the entire set while worn.
if they want to implement primal armor set, i really really hope its not just a glamour. i dont mind with RNG or token system, dropped or crafted, anything to obtain it as long its not just for glamour.
better if they have a unique status bonus for each primal set equipped, we already have set bonus inside the game isnt it? just update it to higher level and scale
dear god, a leviathan armor set for drg. *faints*\
all lala's must only be able to wear the moogle outfit... hehe
I was thinking that you could equip the piece with the materia, and then glamour it on top of anything else and the effect would take place regardless but your suggestion is probably easier on SE. I do think the imbued version of the armour shouldn't be to be bought with gil pretty much, it should be a sign that you put effort into actually working on that armour exclusively. If anything, the normal version should be the crafted version, but whatever. It's just whenever a good suggestion is suggested, it's always "force crafters into this by doing this!" and that has started to peeve me a little.
Maybe not primal armor, but what about elemental armor that matches the element each primal represents. But then I would like to see open world dungeons that are elementally influenced that drop these. But thats a whole other thread.
