I know I'm not the first person to suggest this, and I probably won't be the last.
I'm not one to post in the forums much (if at all) but I've been reading a lot about armor variation complaints.
It's not much, but it got me thinking about Odin. I remember how cool it was to see people in the Odin armor when it was first introduced. I mean... even though it made you look LITERALLY like Odin, it was still really cool to put it on, mount on Sleipnir, and then run around willy nilly. I sat in the Shroud for aaaages just to get the mantles for his sword alone.
We get weapons from (most) primals, whatever the reason for getting it, it's still a nice little touch. When the new jobs were introduced, they put in more weapon designs for that content. But, if there's such a demand for unique armor designs, why don't they just expand on the primal weapons and make primal amor sets as well?
People could potentially be up for running those ol' fights again, and maybe even put in armor sets for Ravana, Bismarck, and King Thordan. I can imagine myself in King Thordan's armor, it's something that'd make for a cool glamor. Or Ultima Weapon! Or imagine a King Moogle armor, kind of like the Moogle outfit but a nice alternative for those who can't get it.
Maybe even give them an enhancement like the weapons, but if there aren't glowy bits then they could be dyeable?
It'd add more outfit variation into the game, a nice breath of fresh air amidst the outfit recolor nightmare we seem to be in. Some would be more challenging to design than others, but why not let us have the option to dawn more than just a weapon from our favorite primal?
OR
If you don't want to be grinding out those fights AGAIN hoping for each piece to drop, maybe add the armor sets somewhere that can be purchased? Similar to Ravana/Bismarck weapons, but maybe without having to grind the fights for that specific currency.
Maybe make an NPC who is an armorer/fashion fanatic and found inspiration in the primals and wants to design outfits. If you HAVE to implement a "fetch this item" thing, maybe have it be something like "Get a token from each beast tribe to complete the look" or whatever. Or just make it so you have to do the fight once with the quest active.
I'm just throwing this out there, I thought it'd be a nice touch.
THINGS OTHERS HAVE SAID:
I've said before that I love this idea, but I do think it should be tied to battling the monsters but not on RNG, rather a token system. 10 tokens for a chest piece and legs, 5 for a helmet, gloves, etc. you get the idea. I guess it may seem a bit grind, but it's really very little and would bring life back into that content... and also give me something to do.Maybe make it so the primals have a chance to drop armor pieces but also drop tokens (like ravana/bis totems) that can be traded at a fashion vendor for the armor? That way if rng decides to say "not today!" 20 runs in a row you can still work toward the stuff.I do think (to help keep interest in them far after the mass gets there armor though) is to have a ring or something that needs to be crafted to activate the effect of the armor. Say you can trade your tokens for the armor but for your Shiva armor to have ice flying around, Ifrits fire, or even Ramuhs with sparks flying off, would need a drop to be crafted to activate them.Awesome ideaif they made the gear actually useful that would be even better!
if they want to implement primal armor set, i really really hope its not just a glamour. i dont mind with RNG or token system, dropped or crafted, anything to obtain it as long its not just for glamour.
better if they have a unique status bonus for each primal set equipped, we already have set bonus inside the game isnt it? just update it to higher level and scaleI'd like to suggest that other Odin-style weapons besides Zantetsuken be available. I want an Odin Greatsword damnit! Odin claws! Odin lance!
