One would be hard pressed to find a better employer than my mistress. She gives me sixteen hours, at the very least, to find something that I believe will take her fancy every day. I do my best to oblige her and in return, she outfits me with gear that is greater than money can buy and grants me a good deal in ventures. Sometimes I feel as if my adventures are just as grand as hers, as i often tussle with foes that not even she has contended with before in order to please her. I've even made a rival out of one such creature, one that I contended with just today in fact.
I was indulging myself in a nice beverage at the tavern in Mor Dhona, sharing tales of my most recent exploits to the locals as I often do. Many who heard my tales doubt their legitimacy, as it is difficult for many to imagine someone of my small, lalafellin stature being capable of wrestling with foes on par with the warrior of light. I swiftly proved my point to those patrons by demonstrating my prowess with a little wager on a friendly duel. More often than not, I would earn my keep of allagan silvers that way, a nice little bonus that always pleases the mistress. And so the merriment continued until the air turned to gloom, signalling that it was time to catch my quarry.
I made my way to the lesser explored southern half of the area, where I saw him emerge from the thick purple gloom. Dodore, the legendary ahriman voidsent from ages past, and he was none too happy to see me again. I quickly stepped away from his advance, avoiding his gaze, and mounted the beast by its tail. The creature thrashed around, trying to throw me off as I held its rear appendage for dear life. Through practiced strength and sheer force of will, I climbed up the tail onto the voidsent's back, where I landed a few good blows to disorient it. With Dodore briefly discombobulated, I grabbed a hold of his still beating wing and ripped it from its socket. No longer able to sustain flight with one wing, the creature and I fell to the ground. Knowing his shadow magic could still easily sear me through, I shoved my claws deep into his retina for good measure. Grounded and blinded, the creature had little choice but to scurry away back into the gloom, allowing me to walk away with my prize.
And so it was that I could return to my mistress shaken, exhausted, and covered in voidsent vitreous fluid, with Dodore's wing in hand. I knew she would make good use of it since she is a skilled leatherworker. She was happy with my contribution as she always is and looks forward to my next one, but I think I'll be spending half of my next venture in a comfy feather bed.
