What are SMNs in XIV? Mages with the ability to transmute a portion of a Primal's essence into a controllable entity (Egis). In the event that the Primal is too powerful to do this, they can channel this power into themselves, granting access to said Primal's signature abilties.

Any suggestions on SMN changes should be taking the above into account. Adding new Egi is a waste from a gameplay perspective, which is why SE added another way lore-wise SMNs use their power (i.e. DWT). If anything they should just remove Summon III and replace it with something else. They had it right with ACN: one pet for tanking/solo stuff, and the other for dps/group content. Adding a second DPS pet just created more problems, especially when it's skill set has no interaction with SMNs main source of damage (DoTs) like the Caster pet has, with Contagion/Shining Emerald.
