You shouldn't be annoyed, like I may make the big pull and plan to use Hallowed Ground as part of the early cooldown rotation if I know the healer is going for big dps to allow my HP to drop as low as needed so they don't have to frantically recover. So that is actually a good sign, compared to a tank that just saves these only for an emergencies, versus using it early where you can get to use maybe 2-3x in a dungeon setting.

Like Neverreap. Make the entire island pull, plan to use HG if the DPS is good with everyone and healer. It'll be back up for the bees section, if needed for final sting. Now tell me who doesn't want a tank that uses their cooldowns to their best potential?

For me it's really as simple as doing whatever I can to speed things up and make them more interesting. Assuming everyone in my party is competent, I'll have nothing to do for 5-10 seconds whenever I drop a crit Adlo. Why wouldn't I Cleric Stance and do some good? It just seems silly. And you almost always get 5 seconds of free time at the start of a pull if you Adlo'd your tank beforehand as well, so it's just making use of all your tools to clear content faster and make people happy. Most dungeons can be entirely Eos-healed so I'll just never leave Cleric Stance except for the initial pre-pull Adlo. I've yet to come across a single tank that didn't appreciate a DPSing healer.

You should definitely start healing to see how easy it is and have a little more confidence in your healers.
I had something like this once in low level roulette.

Got Tam-Tara, I'm on a SCH so I leave Eos to solo heal. The ACN in the party isn't DPSing at all, just constantly spamming his heal on the tank. I tell him that my fairy has it and the tank is fine and not to worry.

And he says, "I'm practicing for SCH."

"Well. If you really want to practice being a SCH, then you should be DPSing."

And then the tank says, "Lol. I think they're trying to vote kick you."

They didn't kick me, but we did kick them. 3 manned the dungeon and it went by faster than it had been previously.

I had a really good run of Neverreap with a well geared tank where I was able to CS about 75% of the run so I definitely appreciate a tank that can use cds optimally.

Kind of a double standard there guys, don't you think? If I don't DPS as a healer I'm lazy, but if I help heal when I'm not a healer, that's bad. I don't really get that, but okay, I guess I'll just find my own little niche, whatever and wherever that is. Thanks for all the input guys, but I really think I should find somewhere else to play. Enjoy your gaming guys, I had a kinda fun month here. :-)
I hope you give things some more time, this game is fun and since you just started there is still so much to do and try. What everyone is telling you is general concensus, but not a standard. You have to do what is comfortable for you. I've seen plenty of healers still getting their bearings; at this stage of the game you're right where you should be so no worries. Just remember to take what everyone says as advice, not as fact, and to use your own judgement. If you are playing Scholar and arent comfortable dpsing yet don't, maybe practice out of cleric stance. If you are playing summoner and feel the heals might need a hand or two, throw out a physick every now and again. Ultimately, this is your playing experience, you may run into the occasional dick, but most people are patient and understanding.

Also the best advice I could give is to ask someone in game, who plays scholar and summoner, preferably someone in your FC. They can see how you play first hand, so their advice would be better than anything you read on the board; since they can actually see how you play and give you advice right then and there.

    Just remember "keep moving forward"

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

I think you are missing the point. The goal of the party is to defeat monsters, plain and simple. Healing party members that need health indirectly helps with the goal, over healing and stand around doesn't. If you are standing around for 2.5s without needing to heal, you could have cast some kind of dps that helps with the over all goal, killing monsters. Alternatively if you are dps that is just curing other people you aren't helping with killing monsters are you.

    well let them?

but if i have to chose between heal dps and mega-speed-full-dps pulls i chose the latter. just pop dps stance, pull complete hall from start till next mandatory break b/c wall/boss and use all cd with an alternative dps use as just that: a dps boost. heals can now finally heal smth, i can now dps and eos can still somehow outdps that blm who just wont stop talking abt how awesomly godlike his single-digit-dps are (srsly, weapon first, not 200 chestpiece + 150 nq white npc weapon. dafuq dude? *randomrantcausereasons*)

Here is my thing. You are a healer. Thats it. Theres a reason you have a dang green background for your class/job. I do not make myself DPS no matter the cost. If you get yelled at for DPSing in endgame stuff, thats not your fault. You are a HEALER not a dps. Its like when I see Tanks with all Slaying gear and i get tired of having to overheal to keep up because they refuse to be a dang tank. DPSing is a side thing, not a required one. Its nice to have, but don't feel forced to make up for overall low party DPS.

Strength is not in the ability to stand or to fight back, no strength is having the will to keep going on.
