I've never seen an MMO where healers weren't expected to use the abilities that are given to them. Not sure what game you came from, but healers DPSing isn't a new thing, and you're never going to excel at your class unless you can get the hang of it.

Of course, as stated, it is fine to take things slow and learn things one step at a time. But healers, ESPECIALLY scholar, are capable of doing a lot of damage to help their group. Not taking advantage of it (once you are comfortable doing so) is just outright silly.

    You're being lazy.

It will annoy me. It's the same as if the tank spams overpower until he has threat and then just goes AFK for half the pull. Or the summoner spreads dots and then just idles, because it's 'a dot job'. Or if you're playing an archer rather than a bard because 'it's my character concept'. Dungeons are easy enough that everyone can do this, but it's terribly dysfunctional.

Now, it's your game and your sub and your money. That it annoys me doesn't give me the right to do anything about it to you. But maybe playing a team-based game while not putting in a team effort is the wrong mentality to bring into things.
    A very good post here.

Actuslly, healers discouraged from dps'ing has been very much a case in games where healers damage spells are not very efficient comparing to the mana cost they have due stat distribution, while mana and regeneration of it is a thing. Healers simply had to spare any drop of that blue juice to heal efficiently, and they could still mess it up. Hear this is different nowadays, in wow at least, they dumbed it down enough that one simply can't run OOM. This game has cleric stance which gives the healer damage spells the same usability as most caster classes so benefits are reasonable compared to the cost.

Oh, for the OP about the OOM. On scholar, Aetherflow is a delicious thing. And that gives you stacks which allows you to cast a manadrain to whatever mob is around for even more juice. They say SCH is mana dynamo ^^

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.
