Blurry graphics in fullscreen, Sharp in Windowed mode?

Hey everyone, I've been sifting through various different articles on the web to try to fix this issue, however none have yielded a fix so I was hoping some of you bright lads would be able to give me a hand here. My issue is a little difficult to explain, but for a lack of better words when the game is played in fullscreen mode, everything (text, models, textures) is kind of blurry. It almost seems as if the game resolution and the monitor resolution isn't matching up. HOWEVER, when I switch the game to windowed or windowed fullscreen, things become sharp again. I noticed a marked decrease in performance during raids when I'm in windowed compared to fullscreen, so even though the issue is resolved when playing in windowed, I would much prefer to fix the problem with fullscreen. Thanks in advanced!

I'm currently using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660Ti and a 23 inch Samsung SynchMaster S23B550 LED monitor

Resolution is 1920x1080p at 60 Hz

Double check that your game settings indeed are set to your monitor's native resolution for full screen. Just as an example, if your window is set to 1366 and goes to apply that setting to full screen it is going to stretch that 1366 to the monitor's resolution.

You can view the actual values being used by opening the confg file in notepad. Drawing a blank on the actual file/path and can't pull it up atm (at work, on phone), but think it was ffxiv.cfg in the root of the install folder. It is plain text and has two sets of values saved for windowed and full screen height/width. You can actually manually edit those numbers and save the file if you want.

when you're at full screen in the same window settings, change the resolution to 1920x1080

My advice is : go for borderless window

Thanks for the reply! I checked both in-game and with the .cfg file, and in both cases the in-game resolution is set to 1920x1080. I've tried messing with the NVIDIA control panel but to no avail. I know it's not a game-breaking issue but it still bugs me to no end. I thought my eyesight was getting worse

I have tried borderless window and it looks nice and sharp. However, I get a decrease in performance when running in this mode compared to fullscreen

it's not decrease, you just play in low res on Full Screen that's why it's smoother, while in borderless mode actually you will have v-sync enabled from windows itself, if you play in Full Screen [imagine there's no problem] you will have same performance as borderless mode with the same image quality, the downside is, in Full Screen you will have screen tearing and annoying 1s blackscreen when you change to other windows [or going back to desktop screen]

so for some reason you're not getting 1080 on Full Screen, but you're getting 1080 in borderless, borderless is better, you should go borderless even after fixing your Full Screen issue.

Why does it say "(\\.\DISPLAY6)?" How many displays do you have?

It's pretty easy to tell if the game is infact running at a lower resolution when in full screen mode. The UI will appear larger. I suspect it's not appearing larger, cuz it's pretty obvious.

Really I'm at a loss to explain your predicament. Maybe you should go to the NVidia Control Panel and reset all the settings to default. Cuz it's the only thing I can think of that might effect the game visually in full screen mode.
