Well I don't know about that. Coil was pretty hardcore for most people and took months to clear. Even after months only a few raid groups ever cleared turn 5. I believe raids like Coil are what the OP is referring to.

I'd like to see a raid like Coil added. It doesn't have to be part of the main story just a solid raid that takes time to clear and is more engaging. Everything I am hearing about AS makes it sound like a cluster and not fun at all. Coil was a raid people looked forward to running every week even if all they did was wipe.

Raids are now something that even casual players can do thanks to the introduction of a normal mode, even if said normal mode was poorly implemented, therefore, designing bigger raids means designing more content for practically every player. As it is all Alexander normal is doing right now is showing casual players that yes, there's only four raid bosses every six months in the game. I'd like to add also that Savage going so far as to completely remove the short trash sections before every boss and dumping you right in front of the boss room has finally completely removed what marginal difference there used to be between raids and trials. Nobody likes worthless trash mobs when farming a raid, but I'm sure there were better solutions to this than "oh screw it just dump them right in front of the boss every time".

So why are people asking to remove normal Alexander?
Since they have no drops, Hard Mode trials can be done a single time to unlock the extreme version, then ignored outside of when they come up in Roulette.

Conversely, the gear from Alexander was a necessary step in gearing, requiring multiple clears per week if a group was serious about progressing.

Saying this isnt a raiding mmo is just silly, its a themepark mmo it has raids in it just like nearly every other mmo on the market.

It seems rather odd that the OP is complaining that alex savage isnt hard enough or long enough given that they havent even done it yet.

WoW has also reduced its raid lengths over the years, cata had the same format as ffxiv (small trash packs before the boss) so I dont know why your using that as a comparison.

A real normal mode for mid-core raiders would be nice as would more bosses, but I think thats more to do with budget contraints than anything else.

It almost every theme park game I've played crafting has sucked honestly, the only exception would have be Guild Wars 2. I like simplistic crafting where I can get shit done in a few hours, not weeks and Guild Wars did that right, well, almost every MMO did that right, but Guild Wars had that awesome material storage system.

I find it funny how people use "This is not a raiding game" as an excuse to keep raiding in the poor state it is, if we use that logic then this is a "nothing" game. It's a jack of all trades, so how about we never improve anything ever? At least, that's what I seem to be getting from you guys. I don't understand that mindset. But regardless, it is a PvE focused game, and the only thing to do at a PvE endgame is raiding or expert dungeons, both of which are lacking severely.

You said it yourself it's a jack of all trades game so it has to have soemthing for most people. We've had raids and will get a few more bosses in 3.2 I expect, and not to forget the new 24 man in 3.1. I'm not sure why you think raiding is in a poor state it's similar to 2.x.

Because comparatively speaking, it is in a poor state. Hell, Heavenward altogether was brought to us in an unfinished state. It brought nothing new to the table in order to expand on that "jack of all trades" title. What did we get? Like they just skipped everything about the endgame, and sold us a half-baked game, 3.1 is what Heavensward should have had to begin with. Verminion? Something I expect with an expansion. Airship exploration? I expect that with an expansion too, not a jacked up retainer. Relic weapon? Again, should have happened with the expansion. Void Ark too, why was this pushed back to 3.1? Labyrinth was pushed back due to balancing issues, but it was already complete so to speak, why did that incident set the standard? I'll tell you why, it's because are more than fine to allow SE to get away with less than needed. Get what I'm saying? 3.1 will "complete" the experience so to speak, but Heavensward should have been delayed further if this is how it was going to launch.

The expansion should improve on the base game in every way possible, not replicate it. It should be the what TBC was to Vanilla WoW, not a better alternative to Warlords of Draenor, the worst expansion in WoW's history. I've said all this before anyway.

It's pretty sad that in this forum even the suggestion of "make more fun content for the game" will be responded to with "go back to WoW". I think some people would be happy if we got 1 raid boss per expansion pack, at this rate, or if endgame was just hunts that would instantly give you a full set of i210 gear for a single successful kill. Even the whole "well not everybody raids" excuse falls apart now that we have a normal mode raid that practically everybody can participate in, so if they develop say, 8 raid bosses for Alexander they aren't developing 8 raid bosses just for the 1% of people who raid, they're also developing them for the people who do Alexander Normal, IE: most players.

Wrong. The most common complaints is that A3S is both poorly designed and is also a brick wall that destroys statics. Including groups that did SCOB savage.
