I agree with your /basic/ statement. I did not have all that much fun leveling up to 50 in this game.so you work hard to get your 50 in broken state period of this game, and you want other to experience the same thing?
I want your opinion, do leveling pre 1.19 was fun?
I /don't/ agree with your implied result though....
The reason I didn't like going from 1-50 isn't that it took time, or was something that had to be done, or any of that. It's that it wasn't implemented well at all. It was implemented shockingly poorly. I had a great time going 1-75 in ffxi, where parties were a lot of fun. Here, I can count the number of non-ls parties I took part in going to lv 50 on one hand. Without using all the fingers.
In XI I had other misc fun goals to shoot for while leveling up (AF, coffers, etc). Here, not so much.
I don't think leveling itself should be done away with. I think it should simply be made relevant. Get a working search/atmosphere where people use it. Get content. Or if SE's not going to do that.... you know that "Let everyone start at 50" thread on the first page? It's not actually a bad idea imo, if SE is dead set in making leveling irrelevant. If I can go and get 150k/hour or w/e in a party of 8 in the kobold mines (or however much at a low level just being pled by someone), then why even bother keeping it in the game?
Just get rid of it entirely, instead of pretending that it has any role whatsoever.
It's kind of insulting to keep it around but so completely trivialized. A game without levels is weird, but I'd understand the concept. A game with levels that simply take no work at all to get seems poorly made.
