That would be really fun and a cool mechanic. Of course monsters should be able to do the same to us. If they get knocked off they die instantly. Just like PCs.

You can knock people off cliffs in pvp :>
I think anyone who has spent a good amount of time in PvP games has lol. I've even been dumb enough to make myself fall to my death immediately after preventing/dodging an attack that would have done it for me. "Phew!... whoops..."

I mean monsters.

Considering something like this was in the Beta test only to be removed due to player complaints, I don't see it happening.
Specifically, crow type enemies originally had a knock-back effect on one of their attacks which would send the player flying - normally this wasn't a problem, except for one particular FATE in the Central Shroud, 'Lethe on my Mind', where the player fights vultures on the Matron's Lethe, the birds' knockback coupled with the small amount of space on the giant root where the FATE takes place made that FATE an absolute nightmare even at higher levels (if you're in combat when you fall you die regardless of what level you are) - I can personally attest how frustrating and annoying this was. After being bombarded with complaints from testers SE obliged and simply removed the knockback effect from crows (the attack just does physical damage now).
Hence although it sounds like a fun idea, really in practice it would just be too annoying and frustrating for players.

That sounds really fun actually. People complain about anything.Considering something like this was in the Beta test only to be removed due to player complaints, I don't see it happening.

Back in beta, conal or line AoEs didn't have telegraphs at all (everything in general was tuned to a significantly higher difficulty, that Gargoyle the Masked Mage summons had an insanely potent poison used at random and antidotes had a 3min CD). This combined with the high amount of birds on the tree just made it needlessly frustrating when you can easily miss that one bird readying the knockback. Suddenly a beginner area becomes the most dangerous place in Eorzea.
