Switching to WAR main from BLM...

    Hi, guys!

Recently, my FC has decided it would be more beneficial for me to be on WAR instead of BLM, so I've been grinding it up and have a full set of i170/180 gear once I get my last 3/4 of a level. I'm also going to start running Alex Normal as my BLM and getting gear for my WAR, so that'll be good, too.

The reasoning for this, is that we need at least one dedicated tank to start building a static for Alex Savage around.

I feel like I do okay on WAR (at least on the content I've ran on it so far), but the one thing I"m never sure of is my opener.

I saw a thread on here once upon a time for an opener, but I've since lost it. Anyone care to provide a link or help me figure out what the opener should be?

    Thanks in advance!

If you talking about straight enmity then in defiance you would

Infuriate > Unchained >Tomahawk > Berserk > Heavy Swing > IR > Maim > Storm's Eye > (if you feel your are fine for emmity I like to throw fracture here) > Butcher's Block Combo.

I highly recommend you to go check Xeno's WAR guide, it's full of really good stuff and will most likely help you as you plan on raiding as a WAR. There is a section in the video about the different openers.

Tomahawk > Infuriate > Heavy Swing > Unchained > Maim > Berserk > Storm's Eye > IR > Butcher's Block Combo / Inner Beast / another butcher's block combo (eventually fracture if your skill speed allows it)

    That's what i do.
IMO Unchained before pull will waste precious seconds of this awesome buff.

In most of the fights you will switch to Deliverance slightly before Unchained is finished in order to FELL FUCKINGCLEAVE during your Berserk so it's a DPS loss to do Tomahawk and Heavy Swing with the Defiance penalty. You can tank every single boss in this game in Deliverance almost full-time rotating CDs except Savage which you will most of the time OT as a WAR (and even in Savage you will still spend a LOT of time tanking in Deliverance).

And also, two Butcher's Block combos in a row is terrible. Never let Storm's Eye fall off.

Pre-pull Infuriate, wait till 1 second left on Wrath stacks then Raw Intuition/Vengeance. Begin pull at roughly 10-15 Duration on refreshed Wrath Stacks.

    Unchained - Overpower - Berserk - Heavy Swing - Internal Release - Maim - Storm's Eye - BBcombo - Deliverance - Fell Cleave - Infuriate - Fell Cleave. SE - BB/SP etc.

    I use:

Infuriate, unchained, overpower, heavy swing, internal release, maim, Berserk, Storms Eye, Heavy Swing, Bloodbath, Skull Sunder, Foresight, Butchers Block, Deliverence, Fracture, Fell Cleave.

This is a great burst opener that generates massive aggro, DPS, and gets your DoT out, your Debuff out, and gets you some defensive CDs started to ease your Deliverance tanking.

Thank you! That's the video I was thinking of but couldn't for the life of me remember anything but the "Warrior 3.0" part...and you get a LOT of responses when you type that into youtube!

Thanks, everyone, for the responses. It's been a big help already!

I would say run Alex(NM) on your WAR as soon as you are able. Get that experience in for it.

my rotation of pulling mob is
    flash>overpower>heavy swing>flash>maim>storm eye/path>heavy swing>skull sunder>butcher block>steel cyclone/decimate and then repeat till they're dead(use berserk if necessary)
if i pull 3 or more mob group then the rotation is
    flash>overpower> flash>heavy swing>vengeance,thrill of battle,convalescence>maim>bloodbath>berserk>storm eye>deliverance>decimate>infuriate>decimate>overpower,overpower,overpower,overpower till the enemy are dead
