My AST is so weak, why?

So are AST heals just incredibly weak or something? is the class broken? I que up for Dark Vigil with a DRK, 2 BRDS, and me a AST....on the first pull i am unable to keep the DRK alive despite using my essential dignity, HOT and just normal heals like benefic II

I left cause i was doing so bad. Then after the 30 min penalty, i switch to SCH and queue up for Dark Vigil again. This time i got lucky and had a meat shield Pally, two monks and me a SCH. I did fine that time which is strange cause my SCH has just about the same gear as my AST except for the main weapon

it sucks i really like the AST class but if it's that weak in heals i will have no choice but to stick with SCH. I am already raging over the DPS and Tank bias solo quest which is just unfair to expect a healer to perform on the same level, especially the AST who has a DOT and malefic as their only main attacks. It takes me forever to finish those solo quest and yes i have Cleric stance on.

Bad Tank? The heals from ast and whm are the same and I healed all dungeons with all three healers. When the Tank think He is a dd and or his gear is Bad u can heal like a monkey and u have no Chance. So dont be shy and ast their ass away :-D

It sounds more like a tank/DRK issue.

Having said that though, I have found myself in the same boat as you on a few occasions. I find DRKs difficult to heal at lower levels, specially with AST. The heals themselves are fine as they have the same potency as other healers, but i find SCH and WHM just have better tools to control health pools compared to AST.

AST is a lot better than before. It's probably your weapon. Something to note. DRK has less physical defense than PLD and generally speaking, the average DRK is not very good (newer class, starts at 30 so there are overall weaker fundamentals). Don't worry about it. Even as SCH, I have to pay more attention when paired with a DRK.

Probably a tank issue. When i was leveling AST back at 3.0 launch i had difficulty keeping all the DRKs alive up until level 50. Usually their gear wasn't up to par. Past 50 i had few issues on AST healing, it was tougher than on WHM, but very doable.

Maybe he wasnt using cooldowns and had less than ideal gear. Or perhaps he was taking off grit once he had sufficient hate (i do that on my alt's DRK if the healer can easily keep me up with regens or solo fairy.) Or perhaps your weapon was outdated for your level.

Yea DRK is hard to heal pre 50, if this is after 50 it's the tanks fault not popping CDs I played DRK all the way to 60 and I notice the mistakes ppl have made with a class that is fairly good at tanking.

But keep playing AST the class is awesome sauce lol

With how Synastry currently is, you should have no issue healing in exception to tanks who are not using cooldowns or DPS doing horrible numbers to the point that it quadruples the amount of time you spend per pack.

WHM has an AoE stun (Holy) and SCH has an AoE slow (Shadow Flare). These actually make a noticeable difference on the amount of damage happening to your tank. At 52 AST's only AoE is Gravity, which has no added effect like the other two.

It's definitely a flaw with AST. It can make healing a bad tank really hard and it makes doing any level 50 content really annoying (I mean, unless you REALLY wanna cross class and spam Bliz II. XD).
