It was back from when the original dev team was still in place, so you're going to have to look back to November or maybe even October, but company(and thus player) housing was mentioned along with company-owned ships.
Granted this might have changed a bit with the dev team reshuffle, but I think it's unlikely that this wouldn't be coming.
The reason I point these things out is because some people will freak over the smallest things, and I prefer that everyone be on the same page.
This I don't understand, what the heck does it even mean? its not like you don't have any privacy, you're playing from behind your monitor...and its not like if you were online but in your mog house your friends wouldn't know you were online because all they'd have to do is look up your name or see if you're on the LS list. So what is this privacy you speak of?
O yeah thats right! I remember reading that and I understand you want everyone to be on the same page, I do to. These forums get so negative at times that its really depressing...

lol, wow well I guess I have to spell it out for some people, everyone else got it... Privacy meaning "in game privacy", not a bunch of nutcases running around you while synthing, stuff like that and I do believe I specified by mentioning "peace and quiet". Anything else? This I don't understand, what the heck does it even mean? its not like you don't have any privacy, you're playing from behind your monitor...and its not like if you were online but in your mog house your friends wouldn't know you were online because all they'd have to do is look up your name or see if you're on the LS list. There is something to be said for peace and quiet in this game. I like the mender's ward and would synth there if it weren't the most unstable zone in the game.
After fishing in Thunder Bluff I can understand peace and quiet. It never fails to have some guy jump in the pool then run circles around you screaming "Look At Me!!!"

I would love to have my own house in FFXIV. For me being able to customise and decorate a house has been one of my favourite parts in lots of other MMOs
Like in Ultima Online (I spent 4 years playing that) decorating and designing houses always held my attention. Also Star Wars Galaxies (before they ruined it) Houses were a big part of the game, it was nice you could make your own shop and customise it to your hearts content.
Even if the house in FFXIV was something in its own instance (like in EQ2) that you accessed similarly to the market ward - IT WOULD BE AMAZING.
Fact: MMOs with player housing make players stay with a game longer, especially if they are able to invest time and effort into improving/decorating their house.
5* to the poster of this subject. I really want a house now!
