I would like to see the concept of Mog House expanded on include player villages. How epic would that be? >_>
Seriously instead of instance house you have an instance village, complete with store fronts, guild halls, and player housing.

And even better if it wasn't an instance. Instanced villages in AoC didn't work because no-one apart from your own guild bothered to show up. TBH, there's enough copypasta terrain in Coerthas for us to all build houses and villages there, I'd wager.
And we could have sieges against dragon NPCs and other players while we're at it!
Or would that be too ambitious for little old SE?

The only reason I went there was because I remember how bad SWG was about loading houses but hey, that was 8 years ago and the internet has improved. Maybe we can have open villages finally. If so I would suggest bulldozer the empty NPC towns and let us setup shop. And even better if it wasn't an instance. The internet might have improved, but if SE's UI issues are anything to go by, I'd say they don't know about it.
We know how congested things get with players in cities. For example, in Ul'dah people take around 10 seconds or longer to populate my screen. So I guess having multiple structures to load in as you travel through maps might be just as slow.
However, perhaps the benefits outweigh the problems.
People talk of copy-paste and repetitive terrain boring them, well how boring would your travels be if every day there were new towns and houses springing up in places you'd been before? Exploration would never get old because there would always be something new to see.
There's definitely enough room on the maps to accommodate such a system, even without removing those NPC hamlets, wouldn't you agree?

not to mention I miss my mog and mog quests

I would love to have my own house in FFXIV. For me being able to customise and decorate a house has been one of my favourite parts in lots of other MMOs
Like in Ultima Online (I spent 4 years playing that) decorating and designing houses always held my attention. Also Star Wars Galaxies (before they ruined it) Houses were a big part of the game, it was nice you could make your own shop and customise it to your hearts content.
Even if the house in FFXIV was something in its own instance (like in EQ2) that you accessed similarly to the market ward - IT WOULD BE AMAZING.
Fact: MMOs with player housing make players stay with a game longer, especially if they are able to invest time and effort into improving/decorating their house.
5* to the poster of this subject. I really want a house now!

/ for any kind of silent and private place where I can chat or afk in peace.
Some of the ideas here sound pretty cool, but I'd fine with just a cardboard box to hide in as well.

Player housing is coming. Chill out guys. Read The Lodestone more often.

I dont think anyone is freaking out about it. Its nice to express your ideas, isnt that what forums are for? ?ut I will check the forum now that you mention it. Was there a new topic on there? Or was it on one of the letters from yoshi-p?

It was back from when the original dev team was still in place, so you're going to have to look back to November or maybe even October, but company(and thus player) housing was mentioned along with company-owned ships.
Granted this might have changed a bit with the dev team reshuffle, but I think it's unlikely that this wouldn't be coming.
The reason I point these things out is because some people will freak over the smallest things, and I prefer that everyone be on the same page.
