thanks! I agree it is much more likely they will stick to the tried and true. like I mentioned in the post I think to my recollection lulu from ff10 is the closest thing existing in the ff universe. I've been sitting on this voodoo class idea for some time now while playing different mmorpg games. I've only just decided to preach it.This is a cool idea. I think the create doll and deterioration/burst damage mechanics would be a good way to set the job apart from the others and stay true to the idea of voodoo magic. It kind of reminds me of Relm's Paint ability from FF6 (In terms of creating copies of the enemy). I do agree though that SE will likely stick to the established pedigree of jobs for the foreseeable future.
thanks! I agree the black mage class is a very turret style of play, which is a common playstyle for casters in mmos. I really think that an exact opposite playstyle would be interesting, sure bards are mobile but I like the idea of mobility being nessesary not just available.I may need to try out FFV then, sounds interesting. Though the more I think about it, the idea of a more mobile mage does interest me. Kinda why I dislike Blackmage, it revolves primarily around sitting still and casting. Maybe Redmage will remedy that to a point but I don't wanna shift topic.
the idea of having it become a pet is one I'm not opposed to as long as it doesn't step on summoner toes. perhaps a less control able pet (since he's temperary), he can melee, you direct attacks at him his health moves but you don't control him and he doesn't have any real abilities of his own, he's more a tool. also don't like the idea of him being targetable by enemy's unless there is a fun mechanic that would transfer the dmg to the target the doll was made from.Actually, that sounds kinda cool. I can see it maybe being a class where the doll you create becomes a pet slot like ACN or MCH; the pet bar would have either the moves the doll could inflict on itself, or the dots and debuffs you can place on it. The doll's health could go down as you deal the damage, and maybe you could do a final burst attack once it dies. Then you'd move in to resummon/reattune the new doll, and start over.
I appreciate the input!

uhm... why not just have it be a puppetmaster? Just saying, cause voodoo doesn't really seem to work out in any way and since heavensward a puppetmaster would really be viable, since you know... Alexander.
edited initial post to include a limit break idea I've been mulling over. also added the puppet master idea Akizas enlightened me with
well we saw the debut of AST in ffxiv. I feel this is proof of the devolpment teams willingness to try something new.
I understand the idea of puppet master fits much more easily with the final fantasy series, my reservation is that a puppet master class would fall pretty close to the pet classes we currently have. I'm sure SE would find ways to make it unique in playstyle, I just feel that there are a lot of cool mechanics that could be done with a voodoo class that just don't fit puppet master. but hell that being said, I wouldn't be opposed to a puppet master class that simply has a voodoo job tied in with it. have it pair with black mage
o I like that, thanks for your comment!
