absolutely right. there were no abilities involving the doll other then I think it would run up to enemys and melee. the idea of a traditional voodoo witch is a new concept to final fantasy. the reason I bring up lulu is that she's the closest example that exists and bridging the gap from her to this job idea is less of a jump then me just outright suggesting it.
