odd issue with windows 10 and ffxiv

ok so the issue i am experiencing is sometimes when i alt tab out of full screen i get disconnected from game. this is not my internet dropping mind you as i am able to browse the web fine after it still. this also doesnt happen every time just every so often when i alt tab out. never happened on Win8.1. so my question is has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

I don't have such problem with FFXIV on W10 x64. The only issue I have is the game never minimizes properly when atl+tab which is really annoying. This problem is a FFXIV problem when you use the DX11 client and not a W10 related. Other than that I never got any problem on W10. Be sure to make a clean install by formatting your HDD/SSD AFTER you upgrade to W10 and check online for your latest motherboard drivers. Also note that some AV programs create problems on W10 and FFXIV to some ppl.

I run FFXIV in windowed mode. Works just fine.
Never tried to run it in full screen - what would be the upside?
Settings are pretty much max and no FPS issues.

i get better fps in full screen and i did use clean install and my motherboard has latest drivers mind you its an outdated motherboard so doesnt have drivers for windows 10 using 8.1/7 drivers. and as i said its just sometimes when i alt tab out other then that i have no issues performance wise or anything else

windows 10 and FFXIV,

step 1 Power config > change advanced power settings > PCI EXpress > Link State power management > setting off.

step 2 If Nvida card you need to nvidia control panel > global settings > power to max power\performance. don't know quite where the setting is as I am at work.


No issues after that.

AMD doesn't have the 2nd change needed just Nvidia.


Beyond that. SE hasn't said FFXIV works with windows 10 yet. So could be something you just have to live with.

both steps are done but dont think thats whats causing it as its not a crash its a dc like if you internet dropped etc but thing is my internet doesnt drop

Is there a length of time involved? I've had problems in past games sometimes where when I alttab, the connection to the server stops and if I stayed alt tabbed to long... It disconnected without being able to "catch up" on data being sent/received.

Edit: That was on my laptop and may/may not have had something to do with my wifi card settings.
