Also, for 2-Stars specifically, Muscle Memory gives 473 Progress for 6 CP and 10 Durability while Maker's Mark gives a potential 15 Flawless Synthesis that are Durability and CP free which can give you up to 600 Progress total, assuming nothing but Flawless Synthesis is used and all of them succeed, for 20 CP and 0 Durability. Up to 3 stacks can be used for other skills or a failed Flawless Synthesis and you would still gain 480 Progress which is also higher than Muscle Memory.

On top of this, should a Good come up immediately after Muscle Memory, using Tricks of the Trade would only restore 6 CP since that's all that has been used so far, while a Good directly after Maker's Mark would refresh the 20 CP you just used. In this case, using less CP is actually a hindrance rather than a benefit.
