    Materia and Rare/Unique Items

    SE said they were thinking about making gear from raids have the capability to equip materia into them. The idea behind materia is to try to balance crafted gear and raid gear so there isn't too much stat difference between them. While I think there should be some crafted gear that is best-in-slot, or at least bis for the difficulty of obtaining, raiding gear should generally be stronger.

    So my idea is to cap materia slotting on untradeable gear to one per item and allow crafted gear to retain the ability to slot multiple materia with a low success rate. This would make raiding gear stronger than crafted in most cases but with enough work, crafted gear could be just as good, if not better in rare circumstances.

    This would force everyone to use 2 materias if they ran DD like me 20 times and never got a piece of gear. All my melee gear is crafted so they would have to rebalance the game based on raid gear +1 materia and normal gear with 2 materia.

    I think they should have the raid gear be formed into badass materia personally. Make it so the materia is always the same from raid gear and 100% chance knowing that your rare/ex gear will be the best materia for that slot... that would be nice. Takes advantage of both systems.

    Those who want the best gear still run the raids, and get the best materia for their effort or just a very nice weapon to keep. The gear isn't bad as-is.
