Why all the spam lately?

I still haven't gotten an rmt tell since expac release. I figured it was because you had to beat 2.55 to get to Ishgard and it prevented sellers from setting up shop in there. But then, again my server is locked out of player creation.

They don't need shops in the HW zones. All what they need is the search window to search for names and /tell

Seriously, all they need to do is bring back the 30 minute auto logout.

would not work if they send out nonstop whispers. The client have to be AFK for it.

Mostly due to the ease on character creation limitations fir most servers. It's pretty bad right now on my server, at least when I'm in the housing wards; wouldn't be surprised if they're also not getting sales, so spamming to try to get more.

It's never left Lamia I still see crystal bots that have been in rotation for 3 months.

Did something change? At the beginning of the expansion the amount of spam went down to almost zero and it was amazing. I was able to leave myself off busy and people could whisper me whenever they wanted. But the past month or so its just gotten really really bad again :/ guess its back to being perma-busy for me to avoid all the whispers and friend requests from people trying to sell me gill

the main reason the spam bots are back is mostly because people is geting bored of the game, and because of that, theres less people online now, so the rmt bots can create now their characters whit more ease

Same - I noticed it gone in HW.... then a slow trickle.... then average, but ignorable... and then recently - within the last few weeks - it's become deplorable.

Also, some of the 'say' RMT bots just jump every now and then to make them 'active'.

SE really NEEDs to add a function to tick in the character or system options - 'Only receive Tells from Friends'.
Dunno about anyone else, but the friends outside of FC I've made were not met by Tells... but via conversations in Say/public chat and PF parties. I wouldn't be missing anything by not being able to receive tells from strangers. Only once in a blue moon do I receive a tell thanking me for a Raise, or something (and when I receive one, I usually thank in say/public chat, or just bow to them x.x)

Why I like being on Gilga. Been here for almost 6 months now....138/200 on the blacklist without going Busy status.

Consider yourself lucky then. I'm also on Gilgamesh and I get hammered constantly. Typically when I log in I get 2-3 within 5 minutes of logging in and then it's just a constant flow. My black list is maxed out at 200/200 and has been that way for a few weeks.

I've noticed something interesting though, the amount of spam RMT tells that I get drastically reduces (almost non-existent) when I'm idling on a low level class. For example I leveled DRK from 30-51 with only the odd RMT spam and can idle on that class without getting bombarded. The minute that I switch to my 60 WHM I get consistent RMT spam.

It makes me wonder if RMT are targeting max level characters more heavily. :/
