Game freezes with a stuttering sound periodically

Hello,

I will play this game and sometimes it will run for hours, sometimes less than an hour, and then it will freeze, and the sound will stutter. Sometimes, when this happens, if I mash some keys (esc, tab, etc) quickly, it will recover. Most times I have to use the reset button on my computer. I don't have any problems with SWTOR or Battlefield 4 or other games I've played. Upon rebooting I can't find anything useful in the event logs, and I really don't know where else to look for logs for this game. Usually it happens when I'm just sitting in one place for a while crafting or something but it has frozen up on me in a dungeon as well, or while running through a city.

i have the same thing, using win 10 and directx 11 two 980's in sli. its really frustrating.

I am also experiencing this. It's killing me trying to figure out how to fix it. I'm running Windows 10, Directx 11 with an Nvidia GTX 770. My computer uses Realtek HD Audio. All my drivers are updated. Usually happens in-doors or underground for some reason.

I've put a ticket in to try an resolve this. I'll post any helpful information I get. I am noticing a trend that everyone with this problem has Realtek HD Audio, an Nvidia/Geforce GPU and windows 10.

Aside from this (and perhaps before making the investment in new hardware), it's worth making sure the related drivers are fully up to date. Also, it can be worth going into the device manager, digging around the power management settings, and making sure all power saving features are turned off for affected subsystems.

So all I got from the SE ticket was to try port forwarding and that windows 10 isn't officially supported. Not sure what else to do.

So I'm starting to think that some communication between Realtek HD Audio and FFXIV is causing the problem for windows 10 users. I'd like some feedback from you guys if this works. Right Click on the speaker icon, click on playback devices and disable your realtek speaker or whatever is enabled through realtek. boot up FFXIV. after that you can go back to your recording devices and enable realtek again. if you dont see it right click and hit show disabled devices. the game has been running smoothly since that for me. unfortunately no audio in ffxiv.
