    I don't want them scrapping the current class system when all they need to do is implement a bonus system that gives you a bonus for setting up jobs yourselves. Its already half there. You can make most of the classic FF jobs by mixing and matching skills you just have to do it yourself and theres little incentive too, so a system that gives you a bonus for doing so would be great.

    (Added Healing and MND if equipping Cure on a "White Mage" job title while being any magic weapon class.)

    I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

    I read somewhere from Yoshi-P interview that "Changes to class names" and/or "Possible introduction of traditional names" are just options of future system/feature.


    Q. You have also mentioned the possible introduction of traditional names. How do you see these new names fitting into the existing class system? Do you plan on using the new names as a guide to develop class uniqueness?

    A. Yoshida-san is between two possible plans at this time. The first idea is that the traditional names would be introduced as “higher” or “advanced” classes. The traditional classes would thus be something of a goal for players. The second idea is that the traditional names would be more of a subset or specialization within the existing classes.

    Whatever change is put into effect needs to be right. He recognizes that he will not be able to change the system again after this, so whatever is put into place needs to work, and be able to be balanced, for years to come. Because of this his team is giving this issue a lot of thought prior to implementation.

    I started reading this thread eight hours ago, I'm finishing now. There's a swirl of thoughts roaming my head, but one thing that remained prevalent in my head was the obsfucation of game mechanics, particularly, how effective a given ability is under optimal conditions and not-so optimal conditions.

    Wow on reading all of this thread it has some pretty long posts in it that's for sure and now things have become a bit more civilised people are coming up with some great idea's. You right in that it all comes down to balance really at the end of the day.

    I started another thread here that may be of interest to you, some people have come up with some more great idea's in that as well even ones that are not really on topic too things like death penalty, check it out if you have time (it's a lot shorter than this one so won't take as long ^^)

    My thought would originally tie into re-evaluating of existing abilities to give them more competition on our action bars, then assess Yoshi-P's vision.

    I could go both ways, really. I don't mind keeping the current class names, but I wouldn't mind going back to the old style. Also. I think they need to split Conjurer into WHM and BLM and keep Thaumaturge as a sort of RDM but needs to drop the absorb spells. Seems too much like a Dark Knight. In my opinion it'll help.

    i think we have had too much of the name calling and telling people to go back to other games already. we are all here because we want the game to be a success. we may have differing opinions, but we should still work together and figure out a happy medium to where both sides can enjoy the game. me and kimahri had a civilized discussion just a few days ago and that's what it will take to get the game the way we can all enjoy. we didn't agree on many points, but could be rational and suggest things to make both sides happy. i think we all need to start doing more of this and less of the fighting. fighting will get nobody the results we want, but whatever we are given and will have to live with.
