The RNG aspect of favor mat grinding is absolutely infuriating

What is with SE and taking the success/failure of the player out of their own hands and leaving it up to random chance? It's so disheartening, and it feels like the game does not want me to have fun and I have to fight it tooth and nail to eek out what little enjoyment I can while trying to craft my i170 AF2 stuff.

I really feel like the gathering of favor mats needs to be much, much more consistent as it's already enough of a gauntlet gathering the EIGHTY favor mats (and thousands of junk mats/crystals while grinding the favors) needed to craft a single MH/Chest piece. I'm not a game designer so I really don't know how best to fix it, but I would feel a lot better if I knew for certain how many ooids i was going to get from a stack of favors instead of praying I don't get completely screwed over.

I doubt anyone from SE will read this, but I cancelled my subscription yesterday and this is the reason why. I loved gathering and crafting in ARR and I was excited to see how scrips would play out when they were first announced, but all they have done is suck every last bit of fun out of the game for me.

Reported averages are about 3.5 mats per favor, for someone using good technique, and it varies by location. Botany nodes seem to yield less than mining nodes for some reason.

A lot of people I've encountered running Favor nodes do not have good technique.

    Jade Nephrite's Lodestone blog
has some good information in the post I've linked.

I don't know if this is related but somehow I feel like ooids are easier to gather in bigger quantities than foxgloves or void nuts.probably cause nodes for btn are further apart than Min ones.

I get an average of 19/22 ooids per 5 favs.whereas btn favs only get between 14/17 per 5

They have to eliminate the red scrip cap, and make favor nodes a 100% spawn rate. These two fixes would alleviate much of the current systems problems.

Fully agree with red scrip cap. Removing it will actually fix the problem. At least we won't have to wait a week to craft higher stuff

No, they don't. All that would do is crater any chance of a good market developing for Favor node mats.

Don't do it, its pretty much pointless. Just get your af2 gear and be done with it

The RNG aspect of getting HQ Leaf/Land borne sands is far worse I assure you...

3 Favors down, 2 Green Ooids in the bag. Isn't this system just wonderful. They know how much we are expected to get, 3-4 mats per favor. What they should have done is just make them into the gathering equivalent of delineations, give us 20 per token instead of 5, or let us get 4 per node, and make it a 1 off 100% spawn rate when you use the item while harvesting the appropriate node. That way we get 20 mats per token and it even out the usage of the crafter scrips because as it is, unless you are forced to waste crafter scrips on hq mats, you will never gather the 180 mats needed to use all 9 crafter tokens using just 9 gathering tokens.

I've been averaging 3.5 nodes per favor, plus rares, over around 120 Favors run so far.

Technique makes a huge difference, most are explained in Caimie's HW Gathering guide. I've had bad runs with no Concealed node pops, and good ones with 6.
