As for the thread topic itself, I too am sadly becoming more sour (if that's even possible considering the stance I already had on MMO communities before I even joined this game) over time. As the first reply to this thread even says... while I'd like to be a Knight in Shining Armor... I've become more of a Knight in Sour Armor instead. (lol, them TV trope links) I still Tank because DF is absurdly low on willing players to Tank in DF, but again, I can't blame Tank players for avoiding DF like the plague either.

Anyway, he's getting destroyed, the healer healing him is getting destroyed, the other DPS is getting destroyed, I'm just standing there. After everyone dies and the adds leave me alone cause I didn't attack any I just say into chat "I wasn't ready." some lols were had.

Anyway, point is try to turn a negative into a positive.

I still don't get where you people find those toxic players.
In the last 3 months I have seen ONE toxic player. ONE. And that was in A1N after the tanks failed to communicate whom to provoke.
Even when we wiped 5 times on Bismarck HM yesterday because DPS was horrible, nobody insulted anyone, sure, two people eventually left and we abandoned, but still, there was no toxicity.
When a tank in ~i150 in Neverreap pulled groups one by one despite having me as a i191 healer, a BRD and a SMN, he just got asked whether he could pull more, and while he was scared of it because of his lacking equip, he did, and we cleared pretty swiftly.

So yeah... Where the hell do you find those people?

The way I look at it, it's essentially like RNG. Even if you rarely ever fail a 95% success chance gather, it doesn't mean some poor sap somewhere... *cough*... hasn't encountered multiple 5% failures consecutively. Multiple 5/6 failed gathering attempts at 95% success chance will forever be stained in my hatred of RNG with this game. So even if you rarely ever meet one, it doesn't mean frequent encounters don't happen to someone. These horrid players are out there and someones gotta happen upon them.

    Sour? Lol.

Yhoiryo, you have all my sympathy, but even being a DPS has gotten too stressful in this game. Some assorted comments from my latest dungeon runs, every one of which went like a breeze:

"Monk, are you playing on an abacus?" (when I lamented a lag spike)
"Monk, why aren't you doing the positionals?" but also "Monk, why don't you spam your AOEs?" (I do both depending on the context)
"Monk, your DPS is almost nothing." (WHUT? Then how the heck do I get all that aggro? With Second Wind?)
And simply: "You are the worst monk I ever seen." (Hardly believable, I equip monk gear at least, and do a bit more than spamming Bootshine.)

Notice that NOBODY EVER SAYS ANYTHING save that kind of nasty comments.

So, folks, I've had enough for now. Good game, but noxious community, worsened by various aspects of the gameplay. I play to try and relax, not to get pissed off all the time. Sorry snotcases, you'll have to wipe your snot by yourselves now, but it's back to WoW for me. There I can load a legal DPS meter and show my numbers to the occasional jerk.
    They shut up then.

    P.S.
In WoW, people usually call me "Goodberry" or "Good" or "Berry", not "rogue". :P

They ruin it for me sometimes and make me rage on to a DPS. Stay the course, remember they will always need a tank...
The best part for me was yesterday. A healer decided that he wanted to keep pulling mobs ahead of me. It was my first time tanking the dungeon, and i had said so at the start. I asked him to stop. He said i was wasting his time. So the next batch he pulled, i let him die and the rest of us. I then said "Now it is you that is wasting our time"
Final boss, at 14% he stops healing me and lets me die so i don't get the Bonus XP.
Small price to pay. Would love to add players in dungeons to blacklist that way i never get queued with them again like in WoW.

Thanks everyone hah, I don't have a hard time as a tank it's just the little things that I wish the other people did well I'm tanking that kind of irk me as of late.
I'm sure it'll wear off soon enough but for me I can feel when a parties going to be good and when they're going to be bad just by how the peoples actions are in the first few seconds.

Either way I just wanted to get it out there that tanks are people to, not just meat shields.

Say that to the Pallys that have their first "Tankless Job" achievement.
