[Suggestion] Reverse Auction Board (Community Quest Board)

    The Reverse Auction Board feature!
    Other Names:
    "Community Quest Board"
    "Community Leves"
    "Player Leves"

    Who:
For everyone with access to an auction board and retainers.

    What:
A feature that lets you ask for items and you put up how much you would pay for them.
The person delivering the items would just need to bring them to an Auction Board and would immediately be paid the amount upon delivery.
The delivered items would then be given to the recipient's retainers for pick-up.

    Where:
Retainer Bells / Auction Boards in major cities.

    When:
    Any time of the day.

    Why:
The purpose of this feature is to provide an organized medium for people in need of items while also providing a way for players to earn Gil and Items.

    How:
    Breakdown (Request)
Step 1: Go to an your Retainer.
Step 2: Request and item and how much of it you want.
Step 3: Deposit how much Gil / Items you will give for your request.
Step 4: Wait for your request to be filled.
Step 5: Retrieve the items from your Retainer once your request has been filled!

    Breakdown (Fill Order)
Step 1: Go to an Auction Board.
    Step 2: Peruse the requests.
Step 3: Pick a request and deposit the items.
Step 4: Immediately receive the payment.

    Your Questions So Far
Let's see if we can't flesh this idea out with your questions in this thread:
    1. Does the Buyer initiate a request from the MB or a retainer?
The buyer would initiate from a Retainer. Seems to make the most sense.
      -
    2. How many requests could be made simultaneously?
Good question. I imagine something like 1 per retainer? This could be increased based on how many requests you yourself fill! (See question #5 and #7)
      -
    3. Does TAX apply?
No Taxes. This would be the same thing essentially as someone trading you the items in person.
      -
    4. Will it allow partial fulfill a request? (like ppl asking for partial purchase)
Interesting idea for large requests. I'm sure the progamming script could be written to give a percentage of the reward based on the amount given - but I could see people's rewards diminishing and not having a strong incentive to have it finished.
So no, I would say each order would have to be filled in its entirety to receive the reward.

    5. Do you get bonuses for using this type of thing? Do you receive FC points or GC points for doing this to encourage greedy people to use it?
The more you fill people's orders, the more orders you would be able to make. Probably have a cap at 20 requests, same as how many items one retain can sell, just for an arbitrary cap and keep things from getting out of hand (ie. one person with 255+ orders).
Earning FC Points sounds like a great idea too. For GC Points, I'm not sure if there are balancing issues there that I don't know about, but my first thought is to limit it to FC Points only.

    6. Items as well as Gil?
Yup! I like it. This is basically like a grand version of the Trade feature. So I would agree that items could also be set as rewards.
      -
    7. It would be nice to have some sort of reward incentive system in place to get them to contribute more, and it would be useful if we had the option to limit these listings to a specific groups of people.
See questions #2 and #5 for rewards.
As for group-specific listings - I'm sure that could be programmed. If I were a SE employee in charge of this becoming real, I'd probably say that it would first come out for everyone to use; then work out the kinks; then add features like group-specific listings.

    8. If someone puts a price in and no one wants to take it because that person wants too much for it, what then?
If this happens, it's the same as when you put up your items in the Auction Board - you have to go in and adjust the price. If you've put too low a reward, people won't do it and after a while, you'll have to increase the reward.
A quick check at current prices on the Auction Board of the item you want would give an idea of what it's going for.
There are always good samaritans that might fill your order for the funzies tho!

This is what I was expecting back when they said they would add a "wishlist", boy was I disappointed.

I've been wanting this feature since the ol' 1.0 days.

This way isn't good for people who don't really know what the exact price of something is. This actually describes everyone on every server. People are too greedy, if someone puts a price in and no one wants to take it because that person wants too much for it, what then? Do you get bonuses for using this type of thing? Do you receive FC points or GC points for doing this to encourage greedy people to use it?

I would like this if it was like a custom levequest option, where the player can request specific items, and could offer items (or optional items), as well as gil, as a trade. It would also be good to able to leave an optional description with the listhing. This would allow the sale/trade of sets of items, as it's not always gil that I'm interested in. Custom levequest rewards could be taken out of the retainer inventory. Perhaps it could also have an option for the custom levequest to be completed multiple times, if sufficient inventory is available for rewards.

It would also be nice if you could limit the people that could access the requests, like FC-only, LS-only, or a list players. I manage the airships for my FC, and it's not always easy to get other members to gather materials for me. It would be nice to have some sort of reward incentive system in place to get them to contribute more, and it would be useful if we had the option to limit these listings to a specific groups of people.

This system is basically the general "Buyer" mode I've suggested for Retainers on the Marketboard. My idea did not include limitations (anyone could sell to a Retainer in Buyer mode, just as anyone can buy from a Retainer in Seller mode) and I really see no reason to include those here. If someone is looking for Airship materials for a FC Airship, does said individual really want to limit himself or herself to what FC members are willing to provide, and not what the server in general may be willing to provide?

Buying is part and parcel of any sales transaction. The Marketboard needs to have a means where people can offer to Buy, as well as offer to Sell. I suspect some people will be amazed at how much prices will actually stabilize for those items that actually move frequently should they institute a Buyer mode.
