    Oooh, you're so close...

The aetheryte ring cannot turn into any combat secondary stats. It's a terrible piece of gear to choose as an example, since it is an exemption to most of the rules. The aetheryte ring can just turn into all primary stats and elements.

This... isn't quite right. You will never get INT/MND/PIE materia from DoW gear, and you will never get STR/DEX from DoM gear. Additionally, if your gear is further limited, the list can get reduced even further (for example, if you're converting DEX-only job gear, then you can't get STR either which is the point that MeridaQ was trying to get across).

DEX doesn't affect tanks anymore, so it may not drop off of lv51+ tank gear (though I don't have enough data points to say that for certain), but I wouldn't be surprised if it was still in the materia-pool for tank gear from 1~50 just because DEX used to affect tanks.

All that said, what I really came in here to say is that I do not believe that the secondary stats on a piece of gear (crit/det/etc.) PROBABLY do not increase the rate of a piece of gear turning into those secondaries. Though I obviously cannot say that for certain, I don't think anyone else can say the opposite for certain either (if you have evidence to the contrary, I would love to see it). To answer the OP specifically, you should have an equal chance of getting det and/or crit from literally any piece of DoW/M gear.

I guess I should have been more specific with my post. I should have said "classes that use the stats on it," as, how someone mentioned, accessories or items that have "all classes" as an equip requirement will of course fall outside of this, except for the fact that their stats are geared toward one category (tank/dps/caster/healer/etc). Aside from the aetheryte rings (there might be other exceptions), every piece of gear falls into one of 4 categories as far as materia goes and is based upon classes that use it: DoW, DoM, crafting, and gathering.

DoW gear will turn into STR, DEX, VIT, parry, crit, acc, skillspeed, det, or an elemental materia regardless of the stats that are on it. It doesn't matter if it's a tank-specific, ranged (only mch/brd) specific, or melee dps specific piece of gear, it will turn into one of those materia.

DoM gear will turn into INT, MND, VIT, crit, acc, spellspeed, det, or an elemental materia regardless of the stats that are on it. It doesn't matter if it's healer-specific, or caster-specific gear, it will turn into one of those materia.

Crafting gear will turn into one of the three crafting materia (competence, cunning, command) (with the exception of aetheryte rings as noted probably due to the spiritbond. Those, as mentioned, only convert into STR, DEX, INT, MND, VIT, or elemental materia)

Gathering gear will turn into one of the three gathering materia (guerdon, guile, grasp)

P.S. I like how they made all the Crafting materia have names with C, and all of the Gathering materia have names with G.
I've converted over 2000 items since 2.3, and none of them have fallen outside of these patterns.
