What is your raid group composition and progress?

How fast are you looking to clear content? cause that's the important part...

There really isn't a huge difference between different compositions (within reason ofc), and while that could be the difference between world first and world second kill maybe, it matters less and less with every week after the patch.

For A1-A4 Savage, the composition doesn't really matter anymore. With the gear you should have now, the relatively small differences in DPS, are not gonna mean anything if you play your job the right way. Of course, if you struggle with getting the most out of your parties jobs, then going for a more optimized setup is gonna help. It's not gonna magically be miles better though or anything.

Progress: A4S cleared.

I'm a MNK main that swapped to DRG for the sake of raid progress. I value early clears, and although I put myself 5 weeks behind in terms of esoterics (i200 weapon + chest piece for monk) it was still beneficial to swap. Although when I get another gobdip through A4S pages I plan to upgrade MNK weapon, so I'd probably be allowed to switch back and forth. At this point, like others have mentioned, gear can make up a lot of the difference in group comps. If people are playing well, it should be no problem.

My group setup was PLD, WAR, DRG, BRD, NIN, BLM, SCH, AST. But a lot of them have stopped playing until November so we never got passed A2 as a group.

I like the setup cause there's a lot of synergy in the group, WAR buffs NIN and PLD, DRG buffs BRD and everyone with litany, BRD buffs BLM and NIN and SCH and AST work well together.

They used to like to all time their buffs together, the SCH would use fey wind, the AST would use enhanced arrow or balance on the BLM, the BRD would battle voice foe requiem, the DRG would litany and the BLM would pop raging strikes enochain and ley lines with an INT pot. BLM pulled off insane damage in the duration of those buffs.

Healers are SCH and AST. Or were, our AST had to leave due to work.

We're still at A1S, mostly because of our gear and relatively stupid mistakes.

Progress: Just starting A4S. Can't really progress on it due to gear checks but we're still having trouble with A3S though as evident by our run yesterday, lol. Honestly, I'd say your composition doesn't matter unless you're going for world first.

Tanks: WAR, PLD
Healers: WHM, SCH
DPS: DRG, NIN, BLM, SMN (me)

We're on final phase of A3S, the "stuck" point for most average raid groups. Motivation is our biggest gimp, I think...our first pull is really good then the rest just go downhill all night because we're tired of wiping to it. Composition doesn't matter ATM, though I'm gearing MCH cuz we'll prolly need one for A4S (our healers are great with MP, never needed a support up to now, but dat mana drain mechanic doe).
