Would you say, this makes me a?

So Ramuh on hard mode. I am a new player, so I never did this.

    The player chat:
I am new what to do?
    I am new please help.
    (Me and other explaiend mechanics)
    ---
Then we wiped, two people basically got killed 10 seconds in and everyone was like 'oh damn what to do here, how is this possible.
Or well as one player said: i got 1shot can someone explain what happened so i don't do it again rofl
    ----
    Wipe2: ....
I told the 2 guys, that there is guides, and explained a bit of mechanics but added:
but please just youtube/google a boss when you go the first time, takes you 2 minutes... I am also new, but at least I know what he does, cause I did my research.

    Post two down below!

This is when I got the people calling me asshole and a kid.

I do think for a trial which is a epic large boss batle you can easily watch a small tutorial or read some stuff, as these are epic boss fights that require a bit on mechanics and is not just stationary standing. (Don't expect you to watch 40 minute dungeons guides, and I often asked people for the way when tanking, because this is hard to remember or to know. Though knowing boss mechanics within dungeons, is more important than knowing the way or the best pulls. What also annoys me as a tank is, that when I explain stuff how I do this, or when I do a solo pull I say wait, and then some guy tells me 'we all know what we are doing can you please stfu.) For example I ask healer in cutters cry to kite the adds and all I get is stfu..

What do you think? Would you have called me a ass, for pointing out you could have done a google search, does it sound arrogant?

It's really hard to say from this who's in the wrong. Finishing the trial in 2 tries seems like a longshot, especially since you only had 5 geared players (assuming only 2 other newbies and you had at least one veteran tank/healer).

Ramuh is actually a difficult fight to learn, especially for DPS. There's a lot of mechanics to keep track of, such as the fear/charm effects and the orbs that prevent players from running around wildly.

Also, 2 wipes seems a little premature to tell them to search for a video; unless they wiped again in the first 10 seconds and were obviously not paying attention to your explanations or watching the fight.

I'm not sure exactly what you said to them either, but the tone of your asking them to watch a video might have come across as a little arrogant. Tone doesn't translate well over the internet, but I can see how it could be interpreted either way here.

It might have just been better to post a link to them of the specific mechanics that you "just found" or thought was useful to understanding the fight (assuming you actually performed the mechanics well and they didn't). Players do that all the time for new content, so I don't think it'd be too offensive to suggest it as a fellow player new to the fight.

Just so you know, you can get around the 1000 character limit by editing your post.

I wouldn't, others might consider you to be one. To me, I feel that not researching older fights before hand can cause problems and be very annoying sometimes. Sometimes you can get away with it. It depends on the fight really. For the majority of the 2.x story trials, you don't really need to look up a guide beforehand with maybe the exception of Ramuh, The Chrysalis, and The Steps of Faith because those 3 fights aren't just "dodge things > kill adds > dodge things" and have mechanics that you have to do. And then there's things like the level 60 story trial where there are mechanics, but...they don't mean much. This has sorta been a subject that gets brought up occasionally on the forums (or used to at least), the way I look at it is that if it's old content, yes you should look up a guide beforehand because this content may or may not be hated by the players who have done it a lot before and if it's newer content (released less than a month ago) then you might be able to get away with being new and not looking it up. I realize I probably sound like I'm contradicting myself, in all honesty, I don't care one way or the other except for raids and ex primals since those fights are very mechanic heavy and more complex. It's just something that varies from player to player and we each have our own tolerance levels for teaching fights and dealing with new people. This is all just my opinion on the matter of course.

Hard to say without a chat transcript but from experience I can say most assholes don't ask "am I an asshole?"

Not necessarily.. if you had explained already and people were still wiping then yeah, a guide could be helpful.
Honestly though only for endgame raids do I read a guide for, not primals. I can't watch guides because they don't do anything for me at all..

Two wipes is nothing though, did your group keep at it at least? It sounds like most people were new, usually with an all-new group I'm expecting a while to wipe.

In a case where at least three people (that you know of) are new to it, a bit of explanation isn't unwarranted. Yes, looking up a guide online beforehand helps, but the first time someone sees how it really works when they're there is still their first time. As Anova said, it can be hard to learn and two wipes isn't bad for new players who are genuinely trying to learn (as their asking for advice suggests).

If your youtube/google suggestion was as abrupt and demeaning as you describe it, then yes, I think you were being somewhat rude. For one thing, you're assuming they hadn't already done so. Suggesting online resources in the course of offering some actual advice, particularly if you can recommend a site with a particularly well-written guide, would qualify as helpful, but just brushing off requests with a "just look it up" answer isn't.

You did mention that you and others discussed mechanics at the start, so you certainly weren't at the level of "asshole" that some players are, but it does sound like you may have switched from being helpful to a rude brushoff a bit prematurely if the other players were really trying to learn.

Cannot edit on mobile phone so tomorrow tldr I am new as well. In order to learn from fight you should at least know a little bit what your doing specific questions are no problems and should be asked for zelf improvement. Though I wonder how teams would fear, newbies that all read up on it vs a team of newbies that did not.

We all can improve but with long quee times you could as well read up on it. I did drop a YouTube video in chat that explained whole fight. Anyway that is that, tldr I will post full thing tomorrow.

I personally don't see you as acting like an asshole. Mmos have changed over the years, used to be a time where people had no choice but to go in blind and many people loved the thrill of learning a fight.
Alot of people enjoy doing it this way.

Personally I am one of these types of people, but if it is something like Extreme Primals or endgame raiding, I will watch a video or read over a quick strat, because I am dealing with 7 other strangers who do not want to wait, to explain the strat/mechanics (that can easily take an extra 30 minutes for some fights)

I normally don't mind explaining things if I know the fight decently. If the party refuses to work together or even try to communicate than I'm normally the first person to take the penalty lol. Such lack of communication is astonishing at times...
