So I'm pretty new to the class and healing all together but I'm wondering about the cards drawn. Can they only be applied to members in your party?

The reason I ask is because yesterday I was running fates and in an effort to try and learn each card I was constantly drawing and applying the effects to random ppl participating. However while running fates today each time I selected a player it applied the card to me. I was able to apply it to my chocobo though.

I'm not sure if there was a change or maybe I screwed up a setting.
