    Forbidden Materia

    Ok, iv'e gotten the forbidden materia item, and ive added 1 materia, to add my second materia, it is a 26% chance of success 1/4. When adding my third, were down to 7% success rate! Meaning that to add 3 materia we will need 50 of the gear, 50 of the catalyst and 50 of the materia. This is about 3 full days of farming, for only 3 materia added. A bit much maybe? with 7 materias we will have to try about 300k times to get ONE gear with seven materia, meaning that in about 4-5 years we will have one person with a gear with 7 materia. Oh, and did i mention that this is level 1 materia? Level 4 materia is MUCH harder to make meld.

    For the most part, I think I am okay with that, especially seeing some of the materia out there.

    Its supposed to be difficult to get additional it on, that is the whole point. Think of the insane stats you could get by stacking.

    Huh??

    Its called risk versus reward. The rewards of several materia on the newer high end crafting gear is insane. Thus to add the percentage of success becomes more limited.

    It is not an issue with SE here, its an issue with your logic, thought process, and outlook one this.

    They don't punish you for hard work (just see the powerleveling debate!), they punish you for greed.

    (although I must admit that I also find the whole system beyond the first step a major source of frustration for many players)

    I think this is the beauty of the system. Everyone can get SOME materia, but only the truly committed will have the best of the best gear. This is the way it should be, everyone will be able to get good enough gear, but the people that really work at it get the greatest rewards. I myself will be one of the people with "some" materia, and I won't have any complaints when I see the guy with multiple in each slot.

    I think the system is fantastic as well. We want them to move AWAY from easy mode. Granted, the powerleveling thing now is pretty retarded and I hope that they'll scale it back a bit in time (say a heavy EXP decrease if the person who didn't claim it does more damage than the person(s) who did claim it). If it was simple to get gear with a lot of materia, they'd have to scale the bonuses back and everyone would complain.

    This system allows the people who want to put the time, sweat, and tears into making truly unique and epic gear. Think about FFXI: in order to get the best of the best, you had to WORK for it. Why does everyone on this forum complain when there is a challenge in front of them? This isn't a time sink, it's a way to reward the players who put the time in to actually feel like they accomplished something and not have a "me too" item that is easy to obtain.

    tl;dr: STOP COMPLAINING WHEN THINGS ARE TOUGH. Just don't do it if you don't like it, 1 materia is enough for you.

    Good. That means Materia imbued items will be extremely rare and valuable.
