    Connectivity Issues

Hello everyone, having some issues and I was told by Square Enix support to create a thread for support in the forums and I figured it couldn't hurt.
I'll lay out as much information has I have on the issue that I know and that I've tried.

My issue is this; I have recently begun to experience intermittent connectivity issues in the form of freezing, lag, and disconnects with 90000 & 90002 error codes, I am playing on the PC. As it's intermittent I can go a few hours without difficulty, but when I'm trying to level up my tank or playing my Ninja in Heavensward and I find the 'Rabbit Medium' technique or I lose aggro or worse I suddenly find myself dead after a full minute of nothing happening due to a lag spike, it can be frustrating.

The issue begun this Thursday 17 Sept. after installing Heavensward.
I will also note that I had issues installing Heavensward also getting the "Unable to download patch files" approx every 10 - 15 minutes or so, I was able to force my way through this issue out've stubbornness however.

So, next round of questions will be, "What have you tried already?" or some permutation of the like.
Here are the basics of what I've done thus far and other useful tidbits.
    1. My firewalls are allowing FFXIV to pass inbound and outbound.
    2. No antivirus software are currently running.
    3. Ports are being forwarded. (UDP: 55296-55551, 334, TCP: 80, 110, 8080, 443, 55296-55551)
    4. Both PC and Laptop have same issues.
    5. Occurs when wired or wireless.
    6. Not using a bridge connection.
    7. Adapters, routers, network cards... are all up to date on firmware and software.
    8. ISP told me my network was fine.
    9. Running a Geforce 980ti, Intel i7 3.6GHz CPU, 24Gb RAM (For 3d modeling), Laptop has Geforce 980mobile, i7 4x 2.7GHz with 16Gb RAM, 512 SSD. Both run on Win 7 Professional. (Just ruling out my specs as a potential issue).
    10. Set the executable to run with as admin (didn't actually think it would work... but yeah...)
    11. I have contacted square for support and they couldn't offer any more advice beyond what I have already tried, but they did mention:
    12. There was a fire in my area hitting an internet fiber-line connection for my area but:
      1. When I called my ISP they said it occurred on Friday (The day after I tried to play and started having issues and 2 days after my installation issues).
      2. The damage to the fiber line was for a different switch then the one I'm on.
      3. That was a week ago and the connectivity issues are still just as bad.
    13. I haven't played the game for months before last Thursday but when I did it was perfectly fine without issues.
    14. My internet speed on other applications is decent enough (A meager 15Mbits/1.8MBs down)
      1. I've tested it on other MMOs like ESO/TSW and they work consistently enough.
      2. Video streaming like Netflix/Youtube work smoothly throughout the day.
      3. Even when the issues start my Teamspeak regular internet usually remains fine.
I am on Aether world center on Balmung, I live in north east United States.

"Could I try the internet somewhere else to test?"
Alas, not really? University plus work and a handicap preventing me from driving makes my MMO gaming limited sadly.

"What kind of router do you have?"
At the moment? A Belkin N600 Dual Band (The original 6 year old model).
I'm upgrading in a couple days to a TP-LINK Archer C7 as I don't get signal in my living room.
(Again, since plugging in wired to the modem didn't work I'm not sure this will help with my current issue).

I apologize for the wall of text. I work in IT myself and I find the more info the better when helping someone.
I quite enjoy this game and the community so I'd really like to put this behind me.

It's just my opinion though no need to go spreading it around.

I'm also having some serious lag on my alt character on Balmung, can't seem to play more than 5 minutes without freezing and then getting kicked from the server.

I was out in Eastern La Noscea when I froze and got kicked, came back to find myself dead. Went to respawn in Limsa, got kicked. Relogged back in, my character was still dead in Limsa now, tried to respawn but my character was invisible up until I got kicked again.

I'm on a PS4 and this is just kinda getting annoying :/

I am experiencing the same issues on the same server. Not the machine, not the network, not the ports. Have a call in with my ISP, but if it is them that is causing the problem, they are singling out the Balmung IP address. Latency to every other IP address I've tried is as expected.

You should specify your ISP and the times you typically experience connectivity issues.

If you're on Verizon FiOS, it's extremely common for subscribers to experience severe packet loss in FFXIV during "prime time" (evenings in your area). FFXIV seems to be mistakenly flagged as a P2P service and throttled by certain ISPs, FiOS being the biggest offender. If the issue is localized to a certain time frame, what you can do is try using the free trial of a VPN service to connect to FFXIV, such as Pingzapper, and you should notice an improvement immediately; that is if it's a routing/packet loss issue (looks likely since ESO/TSW and other services work fine at the time you're experiencing these issues).

Also, you can use WinMTR and a run a traceroute to the server you're playing on to check for Packet Loss.
Here's the IP for Balmung: 199.91.189.30

Those addresses at ARR Status aren't entirely accurate. Some of the ones listed aren't even servicing a world atm. SE has re-assigned them several times since that site went up, and each world can be served on multiple IP's (we've seen up to 3 reported for the same world in some threads). Since they split us off the the lobby servers at launch, my client has used 4 different addresses (.25, .28,.31, and .30, which I've had since the last revamp in the spring).

If you want to test things to the address you actually use you can get it by running netstat or Resource Monitor (resmon from search/run box) once you have logged fully into the game.
