    3.x series needs a variety of endgame content.

    Like the title says, the 3.x series needs more than 1 path of end game content. Alexander being coil redux was such a huge let down. My whole static split, amicably; over the disappointment that we were essentially repeating 2.0 all over again. It's not that we weren't up for a challenge, it's just that we spent the last two years doing time attack boss fights.

    It's time for alternative paths for challenging end game events.

    I'm hoping that the whole airship exploration thing becomes another path for advancement on the same level of COIL I mean Alex.

    I love FFXIV, I've been sticking with it since Alpha 1 in 2010. We saw a huge change from 1.0 to 2.0, I wasn't expecting a similar change going into 3.0 but didn't think SE, no this team would just regurgitate endgame content for us. Where is the EXPAND in this expansion?

    Tooooooooooooo much 'we neeeeeeeed thisssssssss' threads with no actual valid points other than a. it sucks and b. this sucks more lol If you want something to be added, be more constructive and pitch some actual ideas to the devs.

    And don't tell me that's their job and not yours to do, obviously whatever they do, they aren't satisfying whatever your needs are. Your pretty telling them they suck at their job, albeit indirectly.

    Gears of Wars sucks, I thought the Devs would bring something new with 2 and 3, but it's the same as 1! You just run from point a to b, shoot some aliens, watch cutscenes, save the world. 3 times over! STOP REHASHING!

    OK. You know what I want? Treasure Maps.

    We already have those? Bah! I hate how you either have to wait 18 hours between each map, or basically just throw Gil away to do these... They're not exactly perfect as they are, but it's certainly something they could expand upon easily... Guildhests too, never understood why we never got an endgame level set of those... Probably combine the two into one thing, with a map that lets you enter an instance... I think I'd rather like it if old content had something like that attached to it... Cleared Ifrit (Extreme)? Here's an item that lets you enter a Guildhest-style instance against some elite Amalj'aa, with Lv60 rewards. Not something on the Duty Finder, just something you can farm up and then go do, instead of queuing for dungeons all day... Anyone who remembers BCNMs in XI probably knows exactly what kind of thing I'm talking about here...

    I should probably also give a shout-out to Hamlet Defense, because it's certainly about time that got a coat of 2.0 paint... Besieged was an interesting event in XI, Hamlet Defense always felt like an ambitious take on that, but limited by 1.0... I really hope that the developers don't think some of those FATEs are an adequate replacement... They mentioned wanting to add new content around new Grand Company ranks, so hopefully something like Hamlet Defense can be involved in that...

    Hyperbole, different genre. And yes..actually I have said it. Said that about many, many games. So tired of games being released with updated graphics and somehow worse gameplay but the same crap over and over...which is why I hardly play single player games anymore and usually only MMO. I will only touch a single player game if its a 10/10 (Think, FFT or Vagrant Story) anyway..all this is subjective.

    And yea I am with ya OP, I would love to see variety of content. Some horizontal progression would be nice too. They should give us Skirmish, Hamlet Defense, Chocobo Carivan and Fraction Leves back.

    OK, how about the 3.x series introduces tiered force pop NMS.

    there are 12 tier 1 NM which lead to 6 tier 2 NM which lead to 3 tier 3 NM which lead to 1 tier 4 NM. each tier is progressively harder than the previous.

    Each tier 1 NM is preceded by a need of two pop items which can be obtained from a quest or mob farm (if done by quest there can be a lock out of X hours/days/week before accepting again) or have it go through the leve system where you spend x amount of leves to pop a tier 1 NM.

    After defeating a tier 1 NM they drop loot and 1 of two pop items to force pop a tier 2 NM. defeating a tier 2 drops loot, and 1 of 2 items to pop a t3, the T3 drops more loot and 1 of 3 items to pop the mega boss which drops the best loot.

    so it's a pyramid

    Have this system set up in several zones.

    Or have 8 man dungeons with hard trash pulls, which need to be off tanked or CC'd with slows, binds, sleeps, which leads to boss fights which have more than dodge mechanics, I would love to see some utility skills actually be put to some use. the whole dungeon culminates in a hard boss fight, not dictated by an enrage timer.

    Make encounters challenging, but not DPS racing a clock. I'm sick of it.

    Actually the series declining sales on it's third itteration would actually speak volumes more than your single (Generalized I might add) opinion. You can't just keep putting the carrot on a longer stick for players, in this age where there are more games than a person can even think of playing a portion of.

    Trying to cast too wide of a net for your market has been the death of many, and stagnation comes in a close second for why you see series die lose sales.

    Especially in the world of MMO's where your paying a subscription fee under the assumption that you will grow with the game, the game is not growing it's running a treadmill 3.1 seems to be taking a few steps in the right direction but we will see how it pans out in the end.

    To me "endgame content" = "level 60 cap content, whether its DoW/M, DoL, DoH"

    Let's make a list:
    Bismark EX, obtaining all 13 weapons.
    Ravana EX, obtaining all 13 weapons.
    Alex(normal)
    Alex(savage)
    The Hunt HW Areas
    blue scrips DoH
    blue scrips DoL
    red scrips DoH
    red scrips DoL
    PvP Rank 50
    Anything that offers Esoterics as capping esoterics every week, falls under "endgame" progression.


    So how much of this list do you go through on a daily/weekly basis?

    If 2-4 you are playing less than 5% of available content ingame. less than 40% of available HW "endgame" content.

    This guy is onto something, though I can't agree with adding endgame guild heists since they're more of a training tool. However something similar and probably better tailored to endgame is assault. Add in some skirmish which I don't know why the took out with the 1.0 > 2.0, and throw in BCNM's or ZNM's
