Why, my dear, isn't that why people played this game in the first place? :b

I will use myself as an example. I like to play MMOs, I also like Final Fantasy. I saw this game and I thought "cool! The best of both worlds.". The game launched and I hated it, so I didn't play. Now that I see the direction it is headed, and there is some fun stuff to do, I am playing it again. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't sit here and subject myself to torture just because it was a FF or a MMO. I would play something else. Plain and simple. Is that weird?

I'm sorry but i'm not a troll. Rinsui is a fine fellow and made a good point. Thus i felt like it would be a benefit to the community to put forth such a quote in order to elicit support. Everyone wanted instant-transport airships. Now many want auto-levels and probably would support getting any equipment they want.
That's just how new mmo's are. stop living in the past
Mew!

We arent living in the past, ALL RPGs have long leveling and hours to get everything done, I give you an example, on White Knight Chronicles 2 which while it is not an MMO, it shows my point perfectly, I have been farming 1 item for an errand for 5 days now and not seen a drop, this is from a game that makes money from box sales and DLC (which there isnt much).I'm sorry but i'm not a troll. If they added your retarded ideas to MMOs then why play "oh look i just started and I have max level and all gear, now what to do???" there are no MMOs that I know of that have anything like this because it is not profitable for the company, you would make a character see theres nothing to do (not even level) and quit during your free trial, and MMOs do not make profit off the box sales, take FFXI, it took 5 years to see any profit so ideas like this will make SE completly bust after the money they put into the game.
I knwo I say games are getting alot easier now, but the op is just taking the piss.

No, that's not how new MMO's are.I'm sorry but i'm not a troll. Rinsui is a fine fellow and made a good point. Rift... New MMO... requires you to level from 1 to cap
The Old Republic... Upcoming MMO... will require you to level from 1 to cap
The list goes on.
Guild Wars 1 lets you create a level 20 PvP-specific character... however you still have to unlock all its skills by playing through the campaign... or by buying the skills in their cash shop. It's also not technically a MMORPG.
Other than that, every other MMORPG out there requires you to start at level 1 and progress - by playing the game - to the end. There's always some form of progression. Any MMORPGs that do offer that option would be so obscure as to be irrelevant or, at the least, vastly outnumbered by every other one.
So, no.. that's not "how new mmo's are".
Stop revising reality.

I went and read the entire 3 pages of the thread you linked to.
*ONE* person mentioned wanting auto leveling to 50, and nobody else has commented on that point, or agreed on it, or seemingly acknowledged it.
So one person=many people now? The hell?
lol at this topic. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/...102779e9cf.jpg
I agree though with the point it tries to make.

That's like buying a movie and fast forwarding to the credits. What's the point!?

That has to be the most dumbest example ever.
Its nothing like that, is the Credits the best part?
Its more like being given the MONEY to get the movie, rather than working for the money to get to the movie. The movie is the best part, the getting money is the part in the way and thing you need to work at. But nothing wrong with someone giving you the money, or even giving you the movie.
I agree with OP. Levelling is absolute useless and it would be nice to skip it. But I am also not too bothered since I could just go boost them insanely now.
