Ultimately, leveling IS a necessary evil, since if you gave the player all of a classes abilities from the start, they would be expected to know how to play that class by more experienced players. Levels allow for a gradual learning curve.
This is probably the best post on this thread so far.

Like I've stated before I agree with power leveling. It should be something a person chooses to do. I enjoy the game differently than those against power leveling, clearly. But to go as far as to say it's ruining a person day? lolwat?

As far as learning to play, I have played games where a person never gets power leveled, has leveled 5+ characters to cap, and doesn't know how to play well. I'm sure there are cases like that here as well.

It shouldn't matter how I get to level cap or how fast, I play the game the way I want to.

    :Edit:
I'm all for helping a friend out by keeping them alive or giving them a minor exp boost while leveling so they can level faster. But the rates of exp that are being reported are broken and horrendously unfair. I can't understand why you'd be arguing for that. There shouldn't be the option to get to 50 in 3 weeks, or 2 days, or whatever. If you want easy mode then play a different game that gives it to you. It's my hope that this isn't what SE had intended when they said PLing.
Why not, because you don't want there to be? Would it make you happier if they abolished power leveling? Why? So players can enjoy all tiers of content? What if all they want is to kill the dragon and get phat loot IN THIS GAME because they like the classes and combat in this game.

I'm sure SE will do something about the rate of EXP gain if it's too high when power leveling, but I don't think the should remove it. As far as playing easy mode, I play for end game content, not grinding levels. As I haven't gotten to level cap, and raided I have no say on how "easy" or "hard" those instances are. I have completed end game content on other games, and the reason I don't play those is because they are too easy, here's hoping to unique, difficult end game content when i get there, else I'll have to find a new game to play.

This. I'm really happy with the current claim system.

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.

    On the other hand

Levelling is a pointless feature to a game and is a massive roadblock to the casual player where as its nothing to those who can have 4-5 friends playing 24/7.

How can you make both happy?
As one of the casual players, I think it would have been better to give the player a choice when they made their character, either:

    1) To elect to play alone through most of the game, being able to level up somewhat quickly and being able to play with only 7 other people of their choosing from their friend's list that can be managed upon request but is otherwise set in stone.
    2) To follow the traditional MMO mechanic of the hours upon hours of grinding and grouping up with random people.

I'd be happy with the first option to be honest, so that all the elitists can quit complaining about people PLing others, but so that solo players can be happy moving at their own pace but not have to slave as much due to their own circumstances that prevent them from committing to this game full time. I don't care if I have to be relocated to a different server compared to others - no compromise is too demanding for this to be implemented.

So you basically want power leveling to be soloable?

Its only pointless because SE makes it pointless. It would be perfectly feasible to have a satisfying leveling experience like a lot of rpgs I enjoy. More fun, more variety, more sense of accomplishment.

Rude? What's the point of midlevel content when everyone is only worried about making high level gear, doing the high level dungeons, and only worried about high level stuff? I don't know, but I do think it effects a lot of people.

The point about mid-level content is completely valid, I don't dissagree. However, there is a simple fix: Cap the mid level content. So asside from the mid level content, which you can still do mid level btw nobody is stopping you, how does it affect your gameplay?

because not everyone power levels. A lot of people enjoy leveling, and frankly, the only problem is that those same people want to force EVERYONE to do things their way. People will do the midlevel content if they want to, if they don't, then forcing them to do it doesn't really help the fact they don't want to do it.

People who want to get to level cap quickly will do it quickly regardless of the limitations you put on them. Power Leveling is not the huge, game breaking problem people are making it out to be. Those same people who are power leveling would likely be the same people who become elitists levelers who only want people who can get them to level 50 as fast as humanly possible. I'd rather my parties be full of people who play at the same pace as me, as opposed to people who are going to whine because the group isn't fast enough.

Why have levels at all then? Or gear? I mean, how does other people's gear affect you? Oh that's right, it doesn't. Let's just remove all content so we don't have to do it!
