I was toying around with the idea of a crafting xp chain:
Each consecutive item that you make that wasn't previously on your Recipes list gets bonus xp that rises up to a certain % and stays as long as you keep the chain and don't get up from crafting. Not sure if different dyed versions should count, but maybe it would entice people to make multiple colors.

Wow this is actually worse than your jobs troll, if you dont wanna craft or gather then dont while it was origanally intended for DoH/L to be classes, they are intended to do somthing differant to DoW/M, take this analogy, would you call the guy that works behind the bar at your local pub to fit electrics and gas into your house, I would say not because of the specific skills you need to do each job, the same is true in FFXIV DoW/M cant do what DoH/L can do and vice versa.
Oh I know how this could work lets let DoW/M craft and gather, so all classes are exactly identical in every way and all our problems will be solved, if you want to fight level a DoW/M if you want to craft and gather level a DoH/L if this another Gifthorse alt seems like it from the retarded comments.
Crafting experience would be easy to chain up:
- Create a new item successfully - CHAIN 1!
- Create continual synths of new item without breaking - CHAIN UP!
- Break a synth, back to the drawing board
Combo bonus would need to stay even if you get up though, as crafting doesn't have a speed pull mechanic, it's just about grinding.
Vahzl and estallios i agree with both your points, and i do agree about crafting is "about grinding" which is a sad thing in most korean-japanese mmo's
