Dragonskin maps need better rewards

I'd like to suggest that these be a bit more fair in allotting people a good mixture of rare mats, and the opportunity (however slight) to drop something like a minion. Increasing the drop rate of Thav stuff couldn't hurt either...

They do have a slight chance to drop a minion - the Bluebird. I've obtained one this way, and a friend of mine got one this way too. The drop rates are fine, and they give tons of useful endgame mats like Adamantite Nuggets/Rivets. They're also a good source of Blue Fox Hide for the Highland barding. The Thav drop rate is pretty good from what I've seen. A little sporadic, but it didn't take long for me and all my friends who do maps regularly to get one of every thav item. The allotments even out if everyone supplies the same number of maps. I generally do them in batches of ~15 (5 people with 3 maps each, or 4 people with 4 maps each).

I don't see the problem with these maps.

Thav silk drop rates are not good, they're ridiculous. I've done over 60 maps and gotten silk one single time.

I have received about 16 silks, others in my group have gotten them too of course. So I suppose it depends on your Luck. ^^;

I'm more surprised these chests don't contain stuff like Allagan Gold pieces or the like, considering that treasure maps sole purpose is to make money.

This would be totally pointless. The maps contain actual gil in random amounts, which everyone gets. Having them drop Allagan pieces as well as flat gil is redundant and the same as having them just drop more gil, which they already can do.

Then what else is the coffer supposed to drop? Unless you need the crafting materials, everything inside will equate to gil rewards anyway, so you might as well give it an extra boost that gives a flat reward rather than a crafting material whose value can change over time.

I'm sorry, what? Most weeks, I do my weekly red scrip turn-ins almost entirely with mats obtained from maps, and maps generally give me HQ versions. That's hardly the same as an item that can only be sold to vendors for a fixed amount of gil.

What are you suggesting, that the treasure maps could check the marketboard and automatically sell the materials for you, so the mats are exactly the same as a gil reward? That's absurd.

My friends and I get Thavnairian silk and leather quite often, I got 9 silks in about 10 maps before. Yesterday I did 3 maps and got 1 leather and 2 silks.

The turtle was also a beast. Dragonskin maps are much tamer.
