Had a run in fractal recently, healer goes "first time here", proceeds to cast regen right as I go to get the first mob of a pull. I tell him not to do that and he snidely goes "I already said it's my first time in this dungeon". Got a good laugh out of that.

Sounds like he missed the memo that there are some things "first time" doesn't get you out of. -.- Personally, if I use regen, I try to time it so it runs out right before the last mob dies. Sometimes I go over, but unless it's a dungeon I'm still relatively new with, it usually isn't by more than a second or two.

This somehow made me picture Snowcloak with Cirno as a boss.

You'd think level 60 healers would know not to Regen before a fight. It's kind of something you pick up when you get the skill and you're like, "Hey, when I cast this early, things want to hit my face. I should probably start off with a Cure I or Cure II on the tank before I Regen them, just to make sure they're done pulling and have sustained aggro."

When I was leveling my SMN, I had a level 60 WHM decked out in full i180 Law in the level 59 dungeon, and they were pre-casting Medica II and Regening everyone in the party before each pull. This poor i148-ish PLD could not keep hate on anything and the healer just bitched and moaned about dying constantly. Even when the tank begged them to stop doing it.

Can anyone else sense the vote kick? X3

Yeah, that's what really gets me salty about this, it's like "How the heck have they not figured out the cause and effect of it by now?" I'll admit, when I first got Regen I went a little nuts with it, but didn't take long for me to learn that it was one of those Don't Do That things.

Heck, I wouldn't mind the Regen+Medica2 stackers so much if they were using the extra time to stay in Cleric Stance and nuke stuff, but more often than not, they're either compulsively curebombing or just standing around.

Yeah, I've pretty much resorted to doing this as well (though depending on how much the DPSes are making me work for hate, I might keep the tank stance on a little longer before dropping it). Cause, F it, if they're going to do nothing but mash heal anyways, I might as well give them a -ing reason to mash heal!

    But I like making friends!

In all seriousness though, I think the thing most healers need to learn is that if you ARE going to cast Regen willy-nilly, DON'T RUN AWAY. Running away is instinctual, I know, but it isn't going to help you or anyone else, especially the tank trying to pick it up or the dps trying to kill it. Run to the tank. Run in front of the tank. Stand still even. Unless you get aggro on a hornet that's about to final sting you, you probably won't die instantly. Don't be a wuss and take a few hits.

p.s.: WHM tank is best tank. <3

    ^This

Even if a regen is accidentally cast in between pulls, people make mistakes, then please don't kite the mobs around. This is a huge pet peeve of mine and an easy way to tell a seasoned healer from a not so seasoned one.

From a tank perspective: I do understand that it's really annoying for tanks when healers are going buck-wild with regens and heals on people. The best way to get those not-so-seasoned healers up the rungs is to be polite with them. Give them suggestions like, "Hey, could you please watch your regens/heals" or of they don't want to pay attention to timers, "Please run with me until I get aggro on everything"

    On the flip side...

From a healer perspective: I know it sucks when other people like tanks and dps tell you how to do your job, but suggestions like this are meant to help the group as a whole. Don't take offense if someone tells/asks you to do something different like "Run to me when I make pulls so I don't lose aggro". As a healer, you have to make a lot of sacrifices/compromises. Deal with it.

All i'm saying is that its a pet peeve of mine lol. It makes me have to test my patience.

PS: does everyone think i'm picking on their job all the time or is it just normal in this forum?

I wasn't implying that you weren't being polite. I was saying that about tanks in general. I've seen a lot of nasty tanks that are really rude.

Glad I have barriers instead of HOTs.

The kiting is something I noticed, too, albeit not the healer (me), but DDs panicking when something chews on them.
I do occasionally steal aggro though, when I cast my Adlo while the tank is running in and it hits him after he got initial aggro.
Which is never really a problem though, as most tanks start their AOE immediately and I just run into that. I can tank a few hits, but most of the time, aggro goes to the tank instantly, so, in a sense, me stealing aggro helps the tank with positioning, lol ^^

Yeah I know, I need to improve my timing here.

BTW, you can auto-follow someone? How? Need to know that for all those Tam Tara runs forced upon me :P
