    DF Penalty

    Hello,

I just ran my daily dungeon roulette and got Aurum Vale - which isn't that bad as a healer, if the team isn't total crap. You can often tell from how the tank does the first pull if the run will go smoothly or if you better stick to healing only, this was such a spam heal case.

When we reached the Coincounter, the DDs (a BLM and a SMN) stood close and didn't dodge the mechanics, so they died - can't really do anything about it, they get hit and especially players who just reached that level don't have many HP. Swiftcast only works so often too and when the tank is bad at dodging, you're busy like a one-legged man on an ass-kicking competition just keeping him up.

The tank also dragged the boss slowly towards me, forcing me to switch position all the time, which was more of an inconvenience, albeit one that cost time and heals of course - can't do much while running.

So we wiped two times, I said "last try" and the tank ran in as soon as he had Protect. He didn't wait for me summoning my fairy either (I used my Swiftcast which I wanted to save for the next dead DD, I had experience with this group by now).
Suffice to say, of course we wiped again, because even the toughest Lala Paladin can't stand and take a 100 Tonze Swing.

    I said goodbye and left.

Now I'm sitting here with a 30 min penalty. Kept the pretty bad team alive during the instance up to boss number two, wiped 3 times with them, wasted one buff food and 45 minutes, so why do SE need to penalize me further?

The game should check how many wipes happen and if mechanics are to blame, then waiver the penalty when you leave after 3 tries.

    End of rant.

There's a reason AV is one of the most hated dungeons among healers.

There's a 30 minute penalty so that people don't just leave on a whim and leave the party high and dry. Even with a 30 minute timeout, I'll happily eat it if it means not dealing with a horrible party.

On top of that, note that even with the 30 minute penalty, a lot of people do abandon dungeons like AV right at the start anyway.

Anyways... OP, after runs like that, just take the 30 minutes to go do/play something else. Consider it a time to de-stress a bit.

Yeah, hence my proposal: Let the game check how many casualties happened within one fight due to ignored mechanics, at least at bosses.
If the whole party wipes repeatedly because they ignore mechanics, how is one person supposed to carry the party through?
Of course you'd want to leave at some point.

Did you not try to vote abandon before leaving? Considering how the group was going I doubt they would've opposed the vote

They didn't vote for the abandon option, that's the problem.

Well, SE can track that for Trials (and they do for scaling up Echo), but with Trials basically the whole instance resets on wipe. From a technical standpoint, I'm not sure how viably SE can track wipes to a boss in a way that would depenalize leaving. And with the vote abandon option, I'm not sure they would want to.

Also... it's a bit harsh but... vote kick passes more easily than vote abandon, and then you can leave without penalty (as long as you do it before a replacement arrives).

I usually just sit there then. I'm the healer, they can't really proceed without me.

They can either agree to vote abandon or kick me. A bad group is a bad group.
