My AST is so weak, why?

I figured out the problem, i had Benefic I in my hotbar rather then Benefic II, but also that DRK tank was horrible. Just got done with a dungeon healing a WAR and it did fine with my AST

I still kind of like SCH better for the group buffs. And yes i need a new planisphere, problem is that most of whats on market board is trash.

It's not "rather", you need both Benefic I and II, plus you shouldn't even need to be spamming Benefic II regularly. It likely means you are having a harder time because of your weapon. AST guild vendor sells an i115, even though its NQ it'll work for leveling until you get a better drop.

You will want both Benefic and Benefic II on your hotbar. Benefic is the second most MP efficient heal you have (first is Diurnal Aspected Benefic) and you will want to use it regularly. Benefic II should be saved for those instances where the stuff is seriously hitting the fan and you need to get people back up in a hurry. This judgement call will come with practice and experience.

Also, yes, please update your weapon. It doesn't matter if what's on the market board is trash - what you're using right now is below that level of trash. Or go the AST guild - there's a weapon vendor there - and buy a new Planesphere (as many others have suggested). I think you'll need something like 10K or so to get an i115 weapon.

Your weapon is vitally important to your healing. If you're using Benefic II over Benefic because your healing can't keep up on a normal pull, you're doing something incredibly wrong and should make the effort to fix that.

This. Benefic I is your go-to heal. Benefic II is your "wow he got hit really hard" heal. You should only need to use it infrequently.

WAR has higher self healing capabilities than DRK. So you actually may have been making the WAR run for their money if you were still using the outdated weapon.

AST is not weak at all. I healed bad tanks with it, many times.

Regardless, its best not to maintain this as its a highly inefficient habit that you will need to remedy in the future. I highly recommend you put both Benefic and Benefic II on your bar and begin to learn the situations to use both so u can strive to become a better healer.

That kind of makes me realize how awesome those tanks were...

Anyway, do what works for you. Just keep in mind that using benefic I and benefic II will be useful to increase your burst healing and burst dps.

Also, please at least upgrade your weapon to an i100 or i110 at Rowena's or even i70 at your GC. There is a huge spike in hp and damage after level 50 for all monsters, so the actual difference in healing power and damage is pretty huge between level 42 and 52. I promise you'll at least level faster.

Other than the tanks, as mentioned before. I think it might also be AST's lack of mitigation.

I'm not talking about, like, Noct shields and Bole cards either.

WHM has an AoE stun (Holy) and SCH has an AoE slow (Shadow Flare). These actually make a noticeable difference on the amount of damage happening to your tank. At 52 AST's only AoE is Gravity, which has no added effect like the other two.

It's definitely a flaw with AST. It can make healing a bad tank really hard and it makes doing any level 50 content really annoying (I mean, unless you REALLY wanna cross class and spam Bliz II. XD).

Make use of Synastry
-like mentioned keep weapon updated with lvl progression, don't worry to much about other pieces.
-Diurnal Aspected benefic = ast fairy/regen use it.
-If tank isn't using CDs, call them out on it. DRK not using grit or blood weapon etc.
-Learn to stance dance and dps
