My AST is so weak, why?

Problem I noticed is Darkside... had a lot DF DRKs and even a friend not using Darkside so Cds were locked behind that. Got my friend to use it but didn't bother with all the DF DRKs that don't understand the job :/

Yep, Darkside is one of the issues we all see often in DF land, with not keeping it up at all times. Not only do they do less damage than they should be doing, but three decent CDs are locked behind it and either get buffed and/or require Dark Arts to use in conjunction. Dark Dance for increased parry , Abyssal Drain for damage, plus self-healing in a big mob and increased threat, and Dark Mind for magic damage.

Yea I don't get it why these guys always drop dark side especially after you get the skill that helps you recover mp based off the dmg you are taking...

I love DRK even though it was my first tank it was easy to learn my timing and proper cd rotation this is more of a bad players kind of situation and not so much the class....unless you talk about the shield PLDs have or about WARs self healing capability then yes DRK maybe lacking in the "what does this tank bring that the other don't" category

yea i ran ravana and i ran out of MP in the fight so i think it's good to use Benefic I as well

that fight was so hard, its like DPS have to deal down the butterflies quick, tanks have to be able to switch, and heals have to be quick or you wipe

Er, there's nothing for tanks to switch for at Ravana.

As for the different tanks, DRK will flat out need the most attention from healers, certainly, unless it's a fight heavy on magic damage. After all, PLD has a block chance for most physical damage, WAR has +25% HP, DRK has no special passive bonus except a little bit of leech through Souleater. That doesn't make DRK a total handicap because Grit is just like Shield Oath's -20% Damage Taken which is just like Defiance's +20% Healing Received & a bit of the +25% HP, but there is no passive safe buffer with DRK.
