    Dear Healers,

Let me preface this by saying I main a level 60 DRG, I run a second job as a level 60 DRK, and I've recently leveled a WHM to level 50. As a DRG, I find dancing around mechanics while I stab things to death quite simple. As a DRK, I find pissing off everything in front of me and getting punched in the face while others kill aforementioned pissed off things slightly more complicated, but still relatively simple. But as a budding WHM, holy shit, it only takes one big unexpected AoE to have me scrambling! Granted, I'm still learning and am by no means a great WHM, but it took me playing a healer to truly understand the stress healers go through to keep the party alive.

The split second decisions, deciding who can be saved without an ensuing wipe if everything goes sideways, knowing which heal to throw at the right moment, etc.

I just wanted to say thank you for what you all do and put up with in some situations (Healing Horror Stories, I'm looking at you).

Healing? What's that? I thought we were on the DPS forums.

Oh! You mean those green numbers that pop out when I use Assize, right?

    (Incidentally, you're welcome.)

Hear, hear. There are some patient people out there...

A couple nights ago I wrapped up a few EX primals with my FC. I was supposed to repair my gear. First, I did a Dragonskin map, finished 3-4 entries on my DRG hunting log, and got some GC turn-ins. Then I bumped into someone I know while organizing my retainers and we decided to run The Vault. I hadn't repaired my gear and it broke before the last fight.

Our healer kindly and silently raised me each time I died, which was many.

Mechanics aren't really what makes it stressful for me(all thanks to months playing DPS where mechanics affect me much more if I'm not careful). It's when others are unable to deal with them, themselves and I end up having to do more healing than I'd like to. Especially raising.

    D'aw. We love you too.

And don't worry. Those heart palpitations you get whenever someone eats a mechanic will subside after awhile. XD. There are still times when I start cursing like a sailor when something really goes south but the longer you heal the easier it gets. Make sure as you are leveling your gear is up to date. Being under geared even a bit can really hurt you and make your life harder. The really fun part though is going back to your DPS, seeing someones life drop and trying to switch out of cleric stance only to realize you are a freakin' ninja. Welcome to the ranks.

I get that on BLM. I see a tank drop below 50% and I mash my X button where Cure II is... only to see myself casting Fire 1. LOL "Yep..it's really time for me to stop being a DPS".

lol... Playing as a PLD, I had screwed up a few times because I would use Clemency to heal someone instead of paying attention to a tank-buster.

Thank you so much for your post. I notice a lot of people take healers for granted in thinking that our job is a breeze, but it really isn't. I've been with a lot of tanks that just didn't understand how hard it was to keep them alive when they were undergeared with a STR build and were running outside of my healing range with huge mobs while going around a corner, thus breaking my line of sight. But the wipe is all on me. That's the name of the game, I suppose, so I'm extremely happy to see someone understand what it is we're doing. Thank you!
