A question about the Novus weapon

Okay I have been looking around trying to find a clear answer about this and I can't seem to find it. I am going through the relic quests for my BLM for glamour and I am part way through atma to animus, but I was looking at the novus process and am a bit confused.

From what I am reading, there seems to be a few ways I can go about this and I also read that I can change the stats at a later date on the nexus weapon.

So what I want to know is, what is the MINIMUM amount of gil I can spend on this assuming I don't want to go through the trouble to SB? And how exactly would that work? Would I just use lower grade materia only for this, or is that even possible?

I don't really care about stats as I am only doing this for glamour anyway. (Though please tell me if what I read was wrong about the being able to reroll the stats. XD)

I would love to not spend a whole lot of time and gil on this particular step if it isn't necessary. I thank you for your time.
    IRL? What's that? Sounds dreadful!

With Novus, the maximum limit you can add is +75 in attribute stats except for Vitality and the main attribute for your class (STR, DEX etc.), with the maximum cap of a single attribute being 31. So for instance, you could have no more than +31 Crit Hit rate or Spell Speed etc.

Once you feed your relic scroll enough materia of a lower tier, it won't accept any more and you'll have to give it the next tier up, ending up at Tier IV if you're aiming for the +31 cap in one attribute and can get to be fairly expensive. If you're going for glamour only though, you can feed the scroll loads of Tier Is across all the applicable attributes it displays, and once you reach the +75 limit, you take it to Jalzahn and he will infuse the scroll with your relic to get you to the Novus stage proper.

Ah gotcha. That makes things much clearer now. I don't know why that didn't click when I was reading it. Okay awesome! Thank you very much for the reply.

As you are going to be doing this for glamour, to minimize your costs I would specifically aim to never put more than a Tier II materia into your novus. Tier I and II materia are very cheap, usually less than 1K per materia.
The above mentioned limit of 31 is not completely accurate.
+31 is the maximum for Determination, while +44 is the maximum for Critical hit, Accuracy, and Skill/Spell Speed, +33 for Piety.
Each tier is evenly divided from the maximum.

For your build, you would be looking at
    +15/+16 Determination
    +15/+16 Accuracy/Piety
    +22 Critical Hit
    +22 Spell Speed
