One guy said youve been doing fine for ages.
That's the problem a lot of people dont know theyre NOT doing fine and get upset when you tell them so.
Personally I've seen so much players who get by doing minimal effort while I'm over here doing the most as a tank and I do it because I enjoy playing to the best of my abilities, I've given up on trying to give people tips and dont say anything to shitty players as much as I want to.
The irony comes in when half of the time these players who think they're doing just fine because they've never been called out on anything call ME out on minor shit in an impolite fashion such as "can you put on fuckin grit" on a dungeon boss fight where 1.) I am taking a very low amount of dmg and 2.) Holding aggro just fine all while theyre doing 4-600 dps and I'm at 1k, at that point I do take the time to call these clueless players out.
That said, you do what you want with the info the guy gave you and think of your priorities as a player, although you may not care you also need to consider the other players youre playing with, one things for sure tho, reacting in a sensitive manner to the situation won't do you or anyone else good.
Life's a tease.
Assuming the information we're given is correct, this is a person stroking his own ego at someone else's expense. Maybe to pick up, maybe just to feel better than someone else. We don't have enough data to determine that (I'm still betting on the picking up though).
The parser fight is fun and all, but that's not really the problem. An asshat making someone else feel dumb is. Personally, I like parsers and dislike jerks with parsers.
To answer your question OP. Yes I have encountered them and I ignore them.

Apparently this guy doesn't know that "rotations" don't exist anymore outside of openers... It's a priority system.
Most people just call the priority list for bard a rotation because it's pretty well understood terminology and you basically do the same thing every 18 seconds anyway with minor variation.
"I'm not your dragon!"
Some days ago we were in Neverreap and literally disintegrating mobs, including bosses. I was playing a bit relaxed on positioning, doing a lot of AOEs, because we were going so fast anyway that I didn't see the point in stressing myself overmuch (was a bit tired too). Then, this conversation happens in chat:
Elitist: "Why don't you do the right positioning rotation? You lower your DPS to almost nothing."
Nice player: "No, she's doing good for her gear."
Goodberry: "Almost nothing seems a bit exaggerated."
However, I started minding positioning more and so we cleared the instance in 0.1% less time. :P
Some people just can't help themselves. Just shrug it, using the occasional good advice (this does not mean you should allow anybody to dictate the way you play the game). But if someone should become a problem, blacklist and/or report.

I'm sorry, but really? The person is an elitist because he pointed out you weren't doing positionals as a monk? I would be on your side if he started griefing you and nagging you after that, but for simply pointing it out so that you could maybe do even better? This community is extremely oversensitive to any sort of criticism...
To avoid this, I simply play properly regardless of the content (good practice too). If I'm tired, and can't be bothered... I simply do not queue.
That's just my way of playing. I know some people don't want to be in these dungeons too long, so I just go in be polite, and play properly. Not saying everyone needs to do it, but that's just me. If I'm tired, the last thing I'll be doing is duty finder.
