Additiona freel retainers

Why ask for more retainers, when we could be asking for a personal bank. Pretty much make a player bank version of an fc bank. I opted fir an extra retainer, but id prefer a personal bank system like fc bank it holds alot more stuff imo. and we could make a personal chest item for housing.

No he did not say no. He said they were looking closely at our space and would adjust when needed. He did not say they wouldn't give us a 3rd free retainer ever just not now. Apparently you only listened to part of that. no cookie for you!

I've talked to Yoshida about this last year at Tokyo Game Show and I made a post about it at one point, but I'll say it here too.

Q. When can we have more inventory slots? (Such as larger retainers slots/more retainers)

A. We are very limited in resources for data. Resources are mainly being used for other content. Also the more items that you carry/ the larger your storage becomes, the more strain it creates on the servers and resources, which could potentially lead to longer load times and heavier server loads.

I am one for hoarding equipment in games, I like to collect them all. But if that means reducing core gameplay, then I wouldn't want that. The developers are working very hard to create a great game and I would rather they spend their resources on core content.

Consider paying extra $$ extra to pay for their extra work to provide you special treatment and tipping them for their next big server upgrades. I'm sure one day when things become more stable, they will increase inventory slots.
But then again, if that time comes, soon after that we will still ask for more slots. In a sense it's better this way right now.

No, extra retainers and extra inventory are not the same thing. Extra inventory means there's more data flying about when a retainer is opened and that is the issue. An extra retainer means that the same amount of data is flying about because one retainer can be opened at a time.

what I would like to see is a dynamic storage system. it's closed unless you call for something that happens to be in it or manually open it. thus most of the time it would not contribute to the data issue.
an example would be this could be kinda like a wardrobe system where you store your gear in it and it remains closed unless you use a gearset that happens to have some of the gear in said wardrobe.
white mage gearset has 4 pieces in the armory chest and the rest in the wardrobe. so it opens the wardrobe and swaps the gear then closes it.
mind you I'm just speculating on this and am not certain how difficult it would be to do.

Pretty sure that was inventory space (armory specifically), not retainers.

you may be right but unless they come forth and say that specifically we don't know. regardless I would still rather have a character bank and an account bank.

there was some mention of a wardrobe system they planned to introduce. I would like more information on that myself.

If they're honestly concerned about RMT sale slots, they can give each retainer an extra page of inventory space (another 100 items) instead of giving us all a free retainer...


EDIT: Or, better yet, they can give us a free Lazy retainer. Their max level is 1 in every class and they won't sell items on the MB. You can give them a class so you can equip them with glamour gear, but you can't send them out on ventures. They're just there to look pretty and hold your stuff. There, problems solved. Can we have more free space now? :P

LOL, can we call that system the "Mule" system since retainers are different?

As much as I want to trust your word on that, I really can't. Not that it matters though because you seem to have missed that I completely agree with your points that a third retainer would be very welcome. It was unnecessary to argue with me because I already agreed in the first place.

I understand that, I was replying to your thought;

Quite disappinted that you didn't take up the consideration. Just imagine more than a million players each gaining 175 extra slots. Nonetheless, a free extra retainer would be nice.

So I took up the consideration and imagined the worst case of all characters on all accounts gaining an extra free retainer and illustrated the space required to do it. I wasn't arguing against your point, and I am not sure why you felt that I was. I certainly wasn't trying to be condescending, and I apologize if what I wrote made you feel that I was, it wasn't the intent. I was simply projecting out the worst case numbers and then blowing it back to a per world number, which turned out to be not such an unreasonable amount of additional database space...

You replied saying that I was arguing unnecessarily, when in fact I was simply replying to your post - as I pointed out - and not arguing with you. If anything your responses have been both argumentative and actively taking offense where none was intended. Why not go back and re-read my post and see if you can identify where I was arguing with your thought. I don't believe that I was.

Even in f2p games, extra inventory space doesn't cost you $24-->$48-->$72... good grief. Do people even THINK about what SE is charging them? For inventory space? That any other MMO increases regularly free of charge (or just included in subscription) in the form of larger bags?
