Is NIN viable with high latency/ping?

My main is WHM, I play usually with 150 latency/ping, I have no problem stance dancing in Expert roullete and EX Ravana/Bismarck.

I want to level a DPS, not sure which, but probably NIN, I've heard that it's impossible to play with more than 40 latency, it's true? I don't know much about their skills, but I think they are similar to "Invoker" from DOTA? (I.E. need to use some skills in certain order to activate another).

I don't want to waste my time and level it to 60 to find out that I'm unable to do decent DPS because of my latency, if that's the case Ill just stick with my main, that I'm able to heal and still do decent DPS.

    sorry for my bad english

It's viable, just not optimal as you'll be clipping into your GCD everytime you try to cast a 3-step mudra.

Yeah 150 might be too high for competitive play, but if you can use WTFast it might be worth a shot. Its a fun class.

Even at 110 ish ping I still get a lot of Fuma clips.

    150 with WTFast. lol.

Meh, I'll pass then, which is sad because I liked the early levels.

    Thanks.

With wtffast i have a ping of 26ms (without it: 150ms) and still clip a 3step, if i want to make sure i dont fuck it up.
2step works fine tho most of the time.
U could just use Fuma instead with a 150 ping, refreshing Huiton isnt needed with the new ws, and only clip Suiton for TA. Which is a small dps loss, but nothing which makes NIN not viable anymore.

You can put it this way, there are people who play nin with higher ping than what you're saying you have. You just won't be able to put out the very best damage compared to someone with low ping and can play the class "correctly".

The other question is if you yourself can handle how mudra's will feel. Sure you won't put out the best damage possible but you can still play without many issues. The real question you need to see is if you will enjoy having mudra's that feel like crap.

SE said they're making some adjustments to the mudras in 3.1, which is supposed to help with the lag.

How much it will help is another thing though... but I think some players are exaggerating a little if they say you're only viable if you have less than 40 ping.

I have 110-120 ping, and since I'm using WTFast, it's very stable. That's enough for me to do pretty good on NIN.

Am I clipping more than someone who has less than 40 ping? ofc... but that's true for all jobs. It might not be as apparent, but it's still there.

There will be a sizable difference in DPS between 40 and 150 ping, but there's a difference in DPS for other jobs too when we're talking about a 110 ping difference.

I would either just keep playing WHM, or leveling something other than NIN right now though, and then wait and see how big of a difference that fix will make.

150 ping will only not let you use Raiton on melee range, really... or double oGCD wave between GCDs
The one other thing it will bother you with will be Suiton... but if your connection is stable enough it should be fine.

The rest of the skills will not really be affected, so its pretty viable I say.

Imagine losing 15-25 overall dps every 20 seconds in your rotation. Now imagine doing squat for damage on a group of trash mobs even while burning every last bit of TP you have. Now imagine having a tank than won't wait for ninjutsu's cooldown to pull a boss, so your rotation is less than ideal every fight.
    This is ninja.
