Looking at transferring to Balmung

I just wanted to post out here to get a little feed back on this server. I've heard it is essentially the RP server, but people do spend a lot of time talking together. This is my first MMO and I've disliked my current server because all that everyone does is just Grind. I have nothing against that type of play style but for me, if I'm going to play an MMO I want to sometimes just stop and sit and talk with people and make friends...not just run to do quests and level up all the time, if that makes sense. I'm essentially looking between this server and Faeire which I've heard is pretty chill as well, so I wanted to get some feed back. Like I said this is my first mmo so I've never role played...but I'd try it if it allowed me to really settle in with people.

Any input? I do want to of course do endgame stuff from time to time, but I don't want that to be ALL I do. I'm not sure if that makes sense.

Although my experience on Balmung remains limited (just three weeks), I've noticed the community is quite friendly, especially if you're new to the game and express as much. That said, roleplaying does tend to be the focus, so your best bet with making friends is to get into that aspect. You'll find plenty of people willing to do random walk ups. Hydaelyn Roleplayers is a great forum dedicated to help get new RPers going. As for playing the actual game, I haven't had any issues finding groups that want to just run dungeons and whatnot. You may also want to consider Gilgamesh, which tends to be more balanced between roleplaying and game content. I'm a bit bias in still suggesting Balmung. ^^

Thank you so very much Bourne, for taking time to respond to me. I actually bit the bullet two days ago and transferred to Balmung and I haven't looked back! I've absolutely loved it here and I've even dabbled into RP a little bit and was surprised how much fun it is! thank you again for responding as it helped me get a good idea. The server is so alive it's fantastic. As such, I hope to see you around!!

Honestly, this server has been busy any time I've been on. It's really quite amazing. I work M-F 7-4 MST and any time I've been on it's been busy. If you do transfer, add me in game name Michael Home. Or shoot some more questions if you have any.
