Blunt Weapons as options for exisiting DoW

My suggestion does NOT involve changing the class standard damage type, visuals only.

I was thinking today how cool it would be to see my Paladin use a mace. Not for any effect, just the visual. A shield/mace combo is a common sight in fantasy settings, and the mace could even be given "edges" to justify lore wise the lack of an altered damage type.

Then I started thinking about other classes that could benefit from such an addition. Monks using tonfa and Warriors using a hammer came right to mind. I just think it would be fun to have a couple such weapons as Glamour options for classes they made sense for. Maybe as Golden Saucer or crafted level 1 Glamour items?

I don't think any of the weapons I mentioned are in the lore as strictly belonging to a certain job already, thought I could be wrong.

    Thoughts?

Personally, I don't think they should waste potential weapons on the current jobs and they should save them for new ones. =w=

Most jobs people want already have canonical weapons attached to them, though.

It would be nice if the damage type was weapon dependent and not based on your job.
It'll never happen though. 90% of monks would suddenly be slashing or piercing.

Actually, that's a proto-type baseball bat. In my country we use those for a very popular baseball variant.

There are a huge variety of weapons out there though, being able to use different ones would be awesome though they'd have to keep it in line with the current animations, for example the animations for the two handed axe could work very well with a two handed mace and the one handed sword animations could be great for a one handed axe, or changing the guns to crossbows, etc.

I understand their idea of one class has one weapon, but they could always add a larger variety of weapon skins even if they put it in the mog station. To use another game with a similar concept as an example, TERA follows the same one class one weapon rule, but their in game store has a wide variety of skins to turn your weapon in to something else without changing the animations.

For example, TERA's Slayer (two handed sword dps class) has a weapon skin to turn their sword in to a giant mace and a joke weapon skin that turns it in to a popsicle (no I'm not kidding). The Berserker (two handed axe dps) has a weapon skin that turns their axe in to a giant hammer and a joke weapon skin that turns it in to a squeeky hammer toy. The warrior in that game (dual wield evasion tank with two swords) has a weapon skin that turns one sword in to a mace and the other in to an axe and a joke weapon skin that turns their two swords in to a pair of giant wrenches.

I could go on, but you get the idea.

I think this is a great idea.
Although, as Khalithar said, the weapons would have to be designed based around pre-existing animations, which could limit the options available, but with a bit of creativity wouldn't.

I'm heavily opposed to the idea of "joke" weapons, though. The Mog ones already are too much....
